May your spiritual journeys be as eventful as your earthly adventures. May you be able to ascend on your own terms, but with grace and dignity. I wish you peace.

Married, Four Children, Divorced

May 31, 2016

We were married in March at a Baptist church in Springfield, Mo.  He was still in the Army. I was discharged after our first born, Terry, came on January 14th--the same as his mother's birthday! He was really very, very  proud, and named her Terry Lou.  I remember he went out and brought back this huge white stuffed dog and we called it "FiFi", and placed it in her bed.

Then came Peggie--she was born--at Ft Carson, Colorado. As  only Jerry can do, he was not there, at home, but driving Terry to his mother for a short period, thinking she would watch her because I was about to give birth to Peggie...I was way overdue.

I remember it was Easter Sunday and I woke up early, not really having any signs, but soon the contractions came....fast.  What was I to do? No car. Jerrry was on his way to Springfield taking Terry along.  I knocked on the people's doors next to our house. They spoke no English.  I eventually asked him somehow to take me to Ft Carson (the base hospital), because I was about to deliver a baby. Somehow he understood and took me there.

Jerry  came home a couple of days later to see Peggie (double breech they say and delivered as I walked in the door to the hospital!)  Soon afterwards Jerry would come home and go as he pleased, including AWOL from the Army. In  fact the FBI told me to tell him, if I ever saw him to go to Cuba!

I went to Wisconsin.   We would get together--another girl--Lisa was born in Wisconsin. Jerry was absent, in prison, but a very nice one at that (minimum security), when Lisa was born.  I remember riding the train to see him being pregnant with Lisa. He was very loving and caring--but behind bars.

We remained married for two more years. He would come and then leave out the door, and with no warning wouldn't return. Then all of a sudden he would be there--at home again. Loving, promising.

Michael Scott was born in Wisconsin. Jerry was in prison in MIssouri.  I guess enough was enough.  About 6 years after we met we were divorced in Missouri.

He made his own rules and lived life his own way. I can honestly say during the time we were together I honestly loved him as only young love can be--exciting and free!

A Young Man

May 31, 2016

We met on a bus, both of us in our military uniforms. He invited me over to his home to meet his family--Dad, Mom, Dale, Larry, Nancy, Bobbie and Becky--anytime I was in town.  He looked charismatic and enticing in his uniform and what a personality!  Elvis Presley was a popular figure during this era and he certainly had that look. Well, I took leave at one point and found myself at his home.  What a wonderful family, I thought, so loving and caring and fun!!!  We were all young--he was 18 and I was 19.  They were nothing like my family, I remembered.  A beautiful southern home, with a porch swing. Aunt Edna lived across the street and other family members down the street a bit.

Mornings were often at Aunt Edna's place, across the street,  with southern biscuits in the oven and that southern gravy.

I remember romantic trists at the river and long walks and talks. He certainly had a way to make me feel as though he was the only guy in this world--and he would sing!
