His Life

The son of the late Earlie, Sr. and Inez Whitaker Maddox, Mr. Maddox was born in Hamilton, GA and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Harris County, GA where he served diligently with the Deacon's Ministry and the Finance Committee. He was retired following 35 years as a truck driver with Columbus Carpet Mills.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Cecil L. Maddox and Jerome Maddox, two grandsons, Andrew L. Maddox and Jason A. Maddox; and four siblings, Geneva Turner, Purnell J. Maddox, Earlie Maddox, Jr. and Eugene Maddox, Sr.

Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Dorothy Cotton Maddox; two sons, Jesse Maddox, Jr. and Ethan Maddox, Sr. (Demetria); a daughter, Stephanie Shorter (YeKevius); thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, three brothers, Pastor Joe B. Maddox (Vivian), Pastor Arch Maddox (Gloria), and Deacon Aaron Maddox (Hattie); one sister, Florida M. Murray (Fred); beloved in-laws, Hubert Cotton, Jr., Rufus Cotton, Mytrice George, Mary A. Walker, Martha Dorsey, Helen Cotton and ruby Bryant (Johnny); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
