I worked with Jim at Fleet Credit Card in Newark, Delaware after he moved here from Colorado.  He was such a positive person and always had a smile and an interesting story to tell. The overwhelming trait I remember about him was how gracious he was in all situations and how he went out of his way to make others feel comfortable.  I am shocked and saddened to learn of his illness and premature passing since I remember him as being very active and healthy and involved in the outdoors.  When I asked what he missed about Colorado his response was the arid air and the many creatures, such as geckos, darting around.  I remember Jim beaming with pride when talking about his daughter Megan and anything about her.  He told me he would let her sit on his lap and "drive" during long trips on deserted roads.  This world is just not as well off without Jim in it.

What a wonderful friend

I will always remember the best friend, of the boyfriend, that always made me feel welcome, and let me tag along. I can't even begin to tell you how many long, long talks we shared about relationships. I am so glad to have found this site, the pictures and comments from the loved ones. You were a very special friend Jim, sorry we lost contact over the years. I am so happy that you found happiness in your life, because you truly deserved it. May you rest in peace, and your family know that you are forever loved. You were an incredible person in High School, and after visiting this site I see it continued 10 fold into later life,. You will be missed by many, but remembered by more. Any time I am near the Tahoe area there will be a moment of silence and a prayer said in your name. Joan

A lifetime of memories...

May 3, 2013

Jim, I will always remember...

Your old VW up in the hills of Berkley, overlooking San Fran,

V.C Davis Club sharing beers,

Holding baby Meg in your arms in Carson City,

You with the love of your life Mary Lynn in Lake Tahoe,

Playing Froggy in Pomana Pub,

Walking the Bay to Breakers, throwing tortillas.

You've taught me to cherish each day, worry about others and love family and
friends. Thank you.

You're beside me with Jan through thick and thin.

We will meet again at the end of the road, rest peacefully cousin.

 Love Kevin

Having just heard of Jim's passing from another old friend (Glenn Humann), I wanted to share my memories of a great person and an old friend.

We met in early 1967 when I moved to Moraga, and we hit it off right away.  He had an amazing sense of humor, and could always be counted on to make me laugh.  We stayed great friends through high school, and even stayed in touch during our college years.  Unfortunately, the time and distance caused us to drift apart, so I kept in contact with Jim through other friends who had stayed closer to him.

Word of his passing was very sad and brought tears to my eyes (and is again right now).  My thoughts and prayers are with his family, and I pray for strength for them as they move through this difficult time.  For the rest of us who considered Jim a friend, there are a bit of our hearts missing.

God bless you old friend, and may you eternally RIP.

Throughout my life, one of the things that has become increasingly clear is that my greatest gifts in life have been the people who have passed through it and Jim and Mary Lynn are definitely among the gifts I cherish the most.  When I first went to work for Fleet one of my first and best experiences was meeting Jim.  His gentle, kind, non judgmental and accepting demeanor combined with a wonderful sense of humor, made me feel so very welcome and comfortable. Jim provided a helpful, balanced model of how people can and should be in a corporate environment for everyone who had the great fortune to work with him.  He helped make those years we shared at Feet a sane, enjoyable, growing experience..
And when Mary Lynn was added to the equation the gift was doubled.  Through the wonderful whole they created as a couple and each in their own individual ways, the value that was added to all the lives of those lucky enough to know them was, and continues to be unsurpassed.

Mary Lynn, my love and thoughts go out to you and all those who suffer from the loss of Jim in their lives.

I met Jim 24 years ago when I was introduced to the wonderful MacKenzie clan.  He was the sweetest guy you ever wanted to know.  He was a great conversationalist!  Always listening to what you had to say and was genuinely interested.
His brother Bob and I always enjoyed his visits to CT and were very happy to have him living on the East coast for awhile.
We loved spending time with him and Mary Lynn.  They were the perfect couple!!

We will miss him terribly!
