ForeverMissed

This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Jim Rolfe, 68, born on February 25th, 1948 and passed away on June 21st, 2016. We will remember him forever.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider a donation to the Semper Fi Fund, a military charity that Jim would have been proud to support. (semperfifund.org).

A Celebration of Life was August 20, 2016 at the Carson Nugget.

We are very thankful for all who attended, to the Honor Guard for the wonderful ceremony, and to Dean DiLullo for donating Alatte Coffee and Wine Bar to us.

We were very touched by the friends and family that attended and shared photos and stories with us.

Please continue to e-mail the family at JimRolfeMemorial@gmail.com with any personal messages as well.

Happy Birthday Jimbo
Another years has passed.
I don’t think you would have cared too much about missing 2020. Everyone was forced to wear masks, social distance and yes we even went through a statewide casino lockdown. I can hear you right now, in my office, saying I will not be wearing a mask and a few more colorful words. Always loved the rebel in your!

Cam and I went to Heavenly again this year for the annual birthday toast. We hope to connect with Jason this weekend.

You are missed my friend.
Keep sending the fresh powder!

Hi Dad! I know it's a little late in posting this, but we had some great times celebrating your 70th birthday. You skied at 2 ski resorts that day!! Brad and Jeanine skied at Steamboat Ski Resort with blue skies and nice groomed runs for you and then later a delicious dinner after a horse drawn sleigh ride. You skied with Jaci, Jason, and Joanne at Heavenly and recreated some photos from 2 years prior. Jason even took a little nap in a sun chair at Tamarack just like you. We love and miss you!!

Happy birthday, Jim! I know how much you LOVED your birthday, so I hope you’re spending the day skiing in Heavenly powder! I made the pine nut and raisin meatballs that you and Donna introduced me to. Brought back nice memories! You haven’t been forgotten, you’re etched in our hearts.

Jim was introduced to me many years ago when his daughter worked in the family ski shop. He became an extended member of our family and the relationship continued on until his passing. He brought a smile, a story and an adventure whenever we met. He was a blessing and a very kind person. I wish him to be surrounded by angels and to find great joy on his new adventure. All our love to he and the family at this time of loss.

Jim was truly an amazing friend that touched our lives with his beautiful smile and laughter. I can honestly say, he was admired, respected and loved by many. The memories of friendship will remain forever in our hearts. We have friends that come and go in our lives, but a few find places so deep in our hearts that we know that they will always be with us. Jim, you are and will always be that kind of friend. So very blessed to call you our friend. You will be missed but never forgotten.

With our deepest sympathy,
Denise and Patricia

Jim was a wonderful man, he lived life on his terms, and never worried about tomorrow. I have known him since birth, we grew up together and his passing has left a huge void in my life. RIP my forever friend, Sunday mornings will never be the same, and in your honor, i'll keep our tradition going strong. I'll never forget you.

Happy Birthday...Jimbo.

The family was at Heavenly this weekend celebrating your birthday the way you would have done it.... Next year we are putting in our request for a lot of fresh snow two days before your birthday with a lot of sunshine and NO WIND on your birthday....

Happy Birthday Brother!!!!

Dean, Traci, Cam and Ky

PS: Cam is now 10 years old and snowboarding...don't hold that against him. He is actually doing really pretty good. I did all I could to keep him on skies.

Changed my life!

June 27, 2016

One day I got a job offer to leave my position where my superior reported directly to ol Jimmy. Long story short Jim stepped in and said lets do whats right for the property and "promoted to guest" my superior and made me the offer that day. He wanted me to stay and because of the decision to take that position changed my life and others around me. Jim was my neighboor, friend, boss & shooting buddy. I knew when he was out because I could hear his bump stock going off... :)

He told me stories of old salts and the marines. I spoke with Jim on a daily basis as he worked on many projects around his house. Last I spoke to Jim was Monday night about 5:00PM and he was taken by me being home so early.

He was looking happy with his project (front yard). As he stood in the yard atop his highest peak and he looked at me and said enjoy it and your family John. "You have a beautiful family and you better take care of them."

Ill never forget the satisfaction he had on his face with white hair stuck up everywhere leaning against his shovel and a look of accomplishment as i drove away. I never thought thatd be the last i seen of that old salt but that image of him will stick in my mind forever!

Love ya Jimmy and keep up the good work!

This image was his night... I captured a bird in flight not even knowing it was there.

The shooting game.

June 27, 2016

Jim's love of shooting goes way back to when he was a young boy. We were about 16, his family rented a camp in Caroga Lake NY, and my family went to visit. Jim wanted to show me how he could shoot and teach me how. We went into the back yard of the camp, he had a shooting range set up (a tree branch and soda cans) and he obviously had been practicing. He shot a few times, (BB gun) showing me how and then handed me the gun. I'll never forget his frustration when time and time again, I could not hit a target and his laughter when he said I was "such a girl". Many years ater, when he was living in Gardnerville, he taught my daughter Shannon how to shoot. Thank you Jim for a lifetime of memories to comfort me, and I still can't shoot.
