James Carver Sweet was born on April 4, 1952 to Merle and Kathryn Sweet in Pasadena, Ca.  Jim was always proud of the fact he was a 4th generation Californian. Jim passed away on July 29, 2017 with his entire family surrounding him with love.

He grew up in Southern California and graduated from Azusa High School in 1970.  After graduation, he attended Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA.  Jim married Karen Dutremble in 1985 and later moved to Oceanside, CA.

Living in California Jim developed a passion for many things but his favorite hobbies and pastimes included baseball, boating, cars, John Wayne, woodworking and golf.  His grandfather taught him about woodworking and it was a passion that Jim enjoyed all his life.

Jim’s professional career included many years as a sales representative and executive in the automation industry.  In the last decade Jim spent his time doing woodworking and design.

Jim was most proud of his three children April, Nora and Carver.  He loved them with all his heart.

Jim and Susan spent the past 20 years of their life together doing what they truly enjoyed.  Their friends from Shadowridge Golf Club and traveling gave them great joy.  The friendships they developed have proven to be life long and rewarding.

Jim Sweet had a heart of gold.  He would help anyone in need and loved to do so.  One thing about Jim, he truly lived the life he wanted.  He enjoyed his life and never complained about anything.

Jim was a wonderful partner, father, friend, Cook, golfer, and overall terrific man.

We will miss him terribly and he will never be replaced in our hearts.

Rest in Peace Jimmy, you deserve eternal peace. We love you very much.

Always loved the banter and fun-loving humor that was always Jimmy's way. He brightened every conversation with his wit, and I feel lucky to have known him as friend in the later years of his life. God rest you, Jimmy Sweet - you will be greatly missed.

Travel well and forever, my good friend. Truly one of the kindest and fun-loving guys I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Your wit, peppered with sarcasm at times, was absolutely hilarious and always in good spirit. I will never forget you buddy, you were truly one of my best friends! Peace and Love Jimmy!

Pretty Sweet

August 25, 2017

I've been friends with Susie since junior high, and my daughters and I visited her and Jim many times.  He always greeted us warmly with, "Oh God, you people again?"  And then he'd ask, "Where are you staying?" and act miserable when I said, "Here, of course."  But then he'd make a great dinner for us and made sure we had everything we needed.  He liked to appear tough, but I think he was secretly pretty sweet.

Knew words

August 21, 2017

Jim knew a lot of words and taught me a few new words.  Some I could repeat and others that I could not.  He always greeted me and everyone else with a kind word and a sparkle in his eye.  He will be missed.
