This memorial website was created in memory of our brother, Jimmy Mathis . We will remember him forever. He was the best friend that always had my back that I ever had.
Jimmy loved the woods .He always wanted to live in a tree house which he would work on every day he could.Sadly he never finished it . He loved sports always told the truth . And loved his family. He was 15 when he drowned ending when he was just beginning..But he did get the chance to fall in love with a very special girl.

Think Jimmy was an altar boy at your brother John's Bacalerate Mass in 1973. I was there because I was dating Slink. Remember that grin of his. It was so cute.

When I saw his picture I cried like ii did when he passed. I didn't get to know him clocely but I remember seeing how funny he was. His glasses seemed loose all the time. He played basket ball I think he was on jr. Varsity. He was a jokester. Always silly. He touched everyone in school. He loved JOHN DENVER music. When he drowned it was such a shock. It was Avery sad and emotional event. He was loved by everyone and we shared our great with his family. Together we were one big family. I will never forget him and your family.

His Life

The dream I finally had

August 6, 2020
by B Lange
Carole Zinkand Winpigler 's little brother Jimmy Zinkand and my brother were very close. In fact the whole Zinkand family and ours were. When Jimmy Zinkand got on face book my heart skipped a beat .Wow I will be able to take a glimpse into what my little brother would be doing if he was still here. Well that was a big empty part of my heart that didn't feel cheated any more seeing how well Jimmys closest friend was doin.
About a week after that I had a dream about my brother. In the dream I am sitting in a room by myself and in walks Jimmy. He was alot taller no glasses but that smile was definitely his.He extended his arms and we hugged and we cried a long time. Then we both stepped back to look at each other .No words were spoken .After a while he smiled I smiled then he turned and walked away. I could still feel his warmth when I awoke. The one and only dream I have ever received from him.

First time I Saw Jimmy Not Alive

Johnny take your sister Barbara up to see Jimmy .Make sure she doesn't make a scene .Come on Barb Johnny said. You ok ?Are you I said back the smart mouth that I was at that time. Sure John said He held onto my arm and I thought how cruel to send poor John up here with me when he can't get over the lost and feels like he let Jim down in some way.It was written all over the brothers faces every last one of them. John held tight to my arm and when we got to the coffin I leaned in and whispered I told you not to go swimmin. Two tears streamed down his face. John and I both fainted.

The Last Time I heard MY Brothers Voice

August 6, 2020
by B Lange
Donna Barnhart and myself along with a friend of ours Steve (whose no longer with us may he rest in peace ) Were a block from the house when the 6 oclock news came on the radio.Donna was right next to me when they said Jimmy Mathis of the 1600 block of Cape May Road drowned today.I remember both their faces.
I had talked to Jimmy that morning when he answered the phone when I called to tell mom I was on my way home from the Ocean.
As I walked down that long driveway the conversation played over and over in my head
Hi Jimmy ...Hi Barb what ya doin?I'm leavein Ocean City is mom mad at me for not callin last night?. Shes always mad at something your doing Jimmy laughed.Hey Barb I don't wanna go swimmin with these guys and I keep gettin pressured to get out of the house."Oh mom and Junella huh?:"Well look Jim you stay in the woods and wait for me and we'll do somethin else.Just stay there and don't go DO NOT go swimmin if you don't wanna. OK?He just said well i'm kinda gotta. No you don't i said. Just wait you just ATE BREAKFAST YOU CANNOT GO SWIMMIN AT LEAST FOR A FEW HOURS. wait ok. Barb don't yell I hear ya I hear ya.I love you Barb heres mom. Love you too Do not go swimmin. Are you listeniin? Your brother left hes a mind of his own I can't stop him....where are you Barbara Ann?Mom don't let him go please. Get your butt home young lady you have chores to do.
That was the last time I heard his voice.

Bee Story

August 10, 2020
by B Lange
One day Jimmy and I were working on his tree house and noticed all the other kids already left and went back to the house. We hurried as fast as we could to get home. But Junella locked us out and wouldn't open the door. Jimmy said for me to put him on my shoulders and he would push the screen window in on the back porch so he could climb in and unlock the door. Well I agreed. So up on my shoulders he climbed and almost had the screen off but i lost my footing and fell into a giant bee hive .We had no idea it was there.Bees were stinging me everywhere. Yellow jackets hundreds of them . Jimmy grabed the garden hose and started spraying me with water  trying desperately to get them off me. .He would of been a good fire fighter for sure. He did not stop till every bee was off me. Looking back now I guess we tend to take our siblings for granted .Love your brothers and sisters with all your might. And if you do not have one look harder I bet you do in a close friend or cousin.A brother and sister is someone who has your back right or wrong. And you may find this in someone .Give them a call or send a good thought to them.

The Bull

August 9, 2020
by B Lange
Dad came home with a bull once and put it in a sectioned off fenced area of the yard and told us not to go near it.The minute he and mom left there goes Jimmy draggin me with him to climb the fence and look at the bull. There was barbed-wire all around the top and we had to get passed it to reach a safe spot to sit. Well Jimmy slipped and the wire caught him by the corner of his eye .He had to hang there and not move till i got help or it would of ripped right into his eye. Our oldest sister got him down . He had to get stitches .On his return from the hospital  the first thing he said was Come on Barb I gotta see that bull up close.

Liver

August 9, 2020
by B Lange
To say Jimmy was stubborn is an understatement. When he made his mind up about something it never changed.
Mom made liver and onions one night and Jimmy did not like liver he would not eat liver and nobody could make him. Well Dad said he couldn't leave the table till he finished his liver. He sat there for hours then finally dad said put that in your mouth and get to bed. He put it in his mouth alright.
The next morning Johnny was laughing and when I went to see what was so funny .Johnny said hey Jimmy open your mouth .Oh dear he still had that liver in there and tossed it when dad left for work.
