ForeverMissed

Joan was born in 1945 and raised in Alberta. She was loving sister to Johnny, Bert, Judy, Virginia, and Harry. Joan married and separated from Wilf. She was partner to Jack. Joan devotedly and lovingly raised four children: Albert, Taeya (Clinton), Janis (Marv) and Sherri (Meredith). She loved, appreciated and supported her grandchildren: Morgan, Trinity, Griffin, Heidi, Wesley and Claire. She loved her nieces and nephews, and their children. Joan loved Jack’s children and grandchildren. She suffered the loss of her son Albert, partner Jack, brother-in-law Chet, sister Judy, and sister-in-law Sharon.

Joan was adventurous, independent and resourceful. Her fondest memories included seven weeks in Hawaii, canoeing in Banff, climbing a mountain and riding horses. Joan nursed in Banff, Calgary, Meaford and Niagara Falls. She worked at the Niagara Falls Review. Joan and Jack were proud members of the Royal Canadian Legion 479.

Joan helped where she could, appreciated people without judgement, and befriended many. She laughed readily. Joan appreciated nature, especially birds. Her apartment was filled with plants, and countless nature books and novels. Joan loved music and dancing. Joan baked, cooked and canned for her family. She loved to sew and crochet; our beds were adorned with quilts and afghans, and our babies with costumes and outfits. Our lives will not be as rich without her. She is missed dearly.

Joan suffered with COVID-19 and dementia. We thank Shalom Village for the loving care they provided.
