Joan Kiley Burks, age 80, a resident of Tarrant, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Birmingham Hospital surrounded by family.  Joan was preceded in death by her parents, O.D. and Florine Wise Kiley of Tarrant; husband, Jerry Connell of Tarrant; sister Joyce (Dwaine) Boatright of Locust Fork and nephew Jeffery Kiley of Locust Fork.  She is survived by her sister, Janice (Kenneth) Sims of Millbrook; nephews, Kiley (Shanna) Sims, Michael (Lynn) Boatright, and Jeff Kiley; nieces, Hollie (Jesse) Decker, and Emilie (Jason) Johnson as well as 2 more generations of nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten by her family and those whose lives she touched. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 2 pm at Pinson Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice.
