Her Life

Mommy's Life, in a whirlwind

October 26, 2012

Joan Lorraine Justice-Brown was born October 25th, 1954 in Turlock California, to Loren and Nina Justice. After graduating from Turlock High School in 1972, she continued with her education, getting her masters in Speech and Language Pathology.

Joan met her husband, Richard, in the Fall of 1972 as a freshman at Stanislaus State. She was with a friend in the library, spotted Richard, thought he was cute, and followed him home. She said she liked his long hair. He asked her friend out first, though, but as fate would have it, he married her in 1976. They were just two hippies that fell in love.

She continued working in the field of Special Education for over 30 years, while raising three girls: Lauren, 25; Morgan, 22; and Mckenzie, 22. Her daughters were her greatest gift.

Joan loved camping in Pinecrest, making pottery, having fun with her family, gardening, and being around the ones she loved. Her family often called her the baby whisperer because she loved kids and they loved her. She happened to be a pyro, who thoroughly enjoyed lighting the entire house in candles, while hanging out in a bubble bath-- something that was a nightly ritual. She loved laughing, being silly, and cuddling with her girls. She also thought Winnie the Pooh should run for President and that hot fudge was a main food group.

She had a great smile, warm eyes, and lived her life joyfully.
