This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Joan Timmcke, 80, born on April 24, 1936 and passed away on December 15, 2016. We will remember her forever.

Joan passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Susan MacKenzie Edwards, son-in-law Bruce Edwards and their children.

She has been living in San Diego for the past 4 years following the passing of her husband Wesley Timmcke of Emmaus, PA her loving husband of 43 years.  Joan was also predeceased by 2 sons, David Scott MacKenzie and Brian Timmcke.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Edwards, her son-in-law Bruce Edwards, and their 3 children Jennifer, John and Kristin with whom she lived for the past 4 years.  Joan is also survived by Dr. Alan Timmcke, Kris Michael, Julie Timmcke, Lisa Keller and Carl Timmcke as well as 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Joan graduated from Penn State with a degree in Secondary Education.  During her time at Penn State she was a Cheerleader, a member of the Diving Team, and was elected Homecoming Queen in her freshman year at the Penn State main campus in State College.  She was a member of Angel Flight and was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Joan was a professional singer and sang with the Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians band in Philadelphia.

After graduating from Penn State, Joan earned her Master Degree in Education and Literature from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.

She was a teacher at Emmaus High School for several years and was a pioneer by starting the first women’s swim team at Emmaus High School.

She will be missed greatly by all who knew her well.  She was truly the best friend and mother.
