This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Joan Regelbrugge.We will remember her forever.

Joan Elizabeth (Ciccia) Regelbrugge passed peacefully on February 28, 2016. Age 74.

Beloved wife of the late James D. Regelbrugge

Joan was born in Chicago, Illinois on 9/5/41.  She lived in Tucson, AZ with her late husband until she moved and spent her remaining years in DeKalb, IL.  We would like to thank the staff at Kishwakuee Hospital of DeKalb, IL. The doctors, nurses and support staff were very attentive to Joan and comforting to the family.  Joan was surrounded by a room full of love in the company of her children and grandchildren when she departed for heaven.  We know she was at peace as she left to join the love of her life.

Joan is survived by her 4 children: James, Anthony, Jennifer, and Angelique and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She touched so many lives and will be missed dearly.

Services will be a private family memorial.

A Mother’s Love

A mother’s love will never die,

As she takes her leave on earth or in spirit. As you take a deep sigh of relief as she leaves.

You may say my mother was swell, but when she was mad she was mad as hell!

A mother’s love is the greatest gift by God; although it isn’t always easy, the road sometimes rocky, that love remains forever.

Wherever a mother goes that precious gift will be with her forever.

There are no measurements to this love, it’s just there. This love has no starting or ending date, it just keeps on going.

Children may not realize this gift if given to them as well, as they mature into their lives and should use it well.

Remember, a mother’s love does not last forever.

Grandma there is not a day that goes by where I don’t think about you. I tell baby Savannah about you all the time. I tell her about the cute love story you and grandpa had and about how you guys were soulmates in life and after death. I tell her about how much of a great cook you were and that your cookies were out of this world. I told Savannah when she gets a little older we will have a pizza and cookie night every Friday night to remember you. We love you so very much!!

Happy Birthday Mom! Cannot believe you would be 82 today! Well I know you are up in heaven dancing with Dad on your birthday. Tony baked you an apple pie this weekend for your birthday. We all miss you and love you! We all think of you often and we talk about the good times we had as kids. I wish I could pick up the phone and talk to you. But I know you are here watching over all of us. So much happening and coming up with your kids and grandkids….weddings, babies being born. So many milestones that we wish we could share with you and know you would embrace. I love you!

Grandma, today was the day you joined grandpa in heaven. I miss you so much. I think about you everyday. I regret everyday not spending more time with you. I always remember the day we played checkers together at the apple orchard and you kept saying I cheated. Lol. I also remember waiting for you at the gas station for you to get your lottery ticket. I wish I just had one more day with you. I love and miss you so much. Xoxoxxo. From Reeghan: Grandma there is so much I want to tell you but ill make it short and sweet. I miss going to your little apartment and eating pizza and cracking jokes with you while dad falls asleep in the middle of our conversation. I miss you but I know your there looking down on all of us and your with grandpa dancing in the sky . I love you and ill see you again some day .

Four years ago today Dad left us to be in heaven. After 49 years mom was left without the love of her life. It was difficult for everyone, but more so for her.

Mom, you left us a couple of weeks ago but your memories will live on with a whole lot of people. I am glad that you were with people that loved and cared for you at the time of your departure. Now you are in heaven with Dad and the rest of the family that made the transition from mortality to eternal life in the Lords Kingdom. You certainly earned your place there, as well as Dad. You were the buffer between irrational behavior at times and common sense. You made me what I am today through your experience and teachings of life. You will be dearly missed by all that knew you.

Although, I only knew Joan Regelbrugge through Facebook-my heart goes out to her family. I knew Joan's husband James,as a young child, & my sister &I played with him as first cousins. MOM, I hope you will always know that the special connection that we had I will never forget, Ive always enjoyed spending time with you and dad and Im glad that the last few years you were able to spend some time with us and my beautiful little girls ,Brynn and Reeghan both enjoyed coming to see you and were always so excited to visit. Blayne is off being like dad in the navy and im sure wished he could have seen you before you left .You will always be my little mom and I just wanted to say thank you for holding my hand and letting me know even as you were leaving that things would be ok.Im happy knowing you and dad will be together and im sure we will all see each other again .

My brother Tony found my grandpa Ciccia's grave.. none of us kids have ever visited him and to our surprise his wife Helen was next to him. Helen was his 2nd wife. I have not seen her since I was a little girl! This is a great gift to me . My mom never took us to his grave and only prior to her death did we even know where he was buried. Its been a mystery. Thanks Tony, I love you!
