Remembering JoAnne...

August 18, 2018

JoAnne Marie Scerbo, nee. Russo (Jo), 77, of Howell, NJ passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018.

Joanne was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on June 28,1941. She attended St. Michaels High School in Jersey City, New Jersey.  Joanne married the love of her life, Nicholas Scerbo on April 1, 1967.  They were marred for 51 wonderful years. Joanne and Nick raised their family and resided in Jersey City before relocating to Howell, New Jersey in 1994.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Nicholas Scerbo, her son Joseph and wife Amy, her son Nicholas and wife Karen, three grandchildren; Nicholas, Vivienne and Anthony. As well as many adoring cousins, nieces and nephews, godsons and many loyal friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Anna Russo of Jersey City, New Jersey.
Joanne can be described as a caring and loving wife and mother. She loved the life she made with her husband Nicky. Her two sons, Joseph and Nicholas were always a light in her life. She was immensely proud of both of them, their accomplishments in life and the husbands and fathers they both became. She adored both of their wives, Amy and Karen and loved them both as daughters. Above all, her greatest joy was her three grandchildren; Nicholas, Vivienne and Anthony. “Grandma” was always in the stands or the audience cheering them on and showing love for her three grandchildren.
Joanne enjoyed dancing, crafting, sewing, shopping with her best friend Mary, talking on the phone with her cousin Dolores everyday like clockwork, Atlantic City excursions and her yearly trips to Aruba with her husband Nicky and a close knit group of friends.
She could always be found cooking a delicious Italian meal in the kitchen, chatting on the phone or entertaining in her yard.  It was often said that there wasn’t a stranger Joanne couldn’t have a conversation with. She surrounded herself with family and friends who will truly miss her larger than life personality.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Lakewood Funeral Home, 6250 US Highway 9, Howell, NJ, 07731.
