His Life

He's Way.

March 11, 2015

Jody came into this world, with a rush, and seemed to live his life the same way, forever in a hurry to do and finish what ever he started.

He loved animals dearly, bringing home kittens that were lost, and Little D was his puppy, after she went to the Rainbow Bridge, he wanted another pup, NO we said as we still had 2 cats and another dog, but No was nothing to Jody, one Saturday morning I opened the laundry door, Ringo the cat followed me and lashed out at a Blue Heeler pup, which Jody had brought home the night before, (at least he didn't take him into the bedroom, was his explanation!!) but 2 weeks later poor Keg lost an eye. That dog was his second shadow.

His second love was sport, one day I got a phone call, "if I go to training tonight I'll be able to play on Saturday''', for what, soccer, I thought OMG your father will kill you, but, no matter, Saturday mornings we were off to soccer, (under 8)and Sunday mornings it was under 8 aussie rules. This was until he turned 14, we had saturdays saying Dont touch the ball, and Sundays saying handball, must have been hard!! But both codes at 14 and over was a Sunday, so Aussie rules won.

He was asked by an elderly friend of his nanna once, what he wanted to be when he grew up? ( he was around 6 or 7), his answer..A garbo.. wearing shorts and runners was his garb at the time.

He had the most beautiful curls, Sharon, (sister) was always mad, because her hair was straight and had to be permed to look like his. One night he came home and had a beanie on his head, this silly grin lite up his face, he pulled the beanie off....and my stomach hit the floor, he had been clipped bald, a mate doing a course in hairdressing ,practiced on him. He wore the beanie for around2 weeks, what made this episode so stand out was Bald was not in then! My thoughts were, who would take him on in a job, looking like that?

Around March 1992, he got the wanders and took off to West Australia, had a mate overthere, and he was there for around 6 years, working with sheep, madest animal in the world.... but knowing him he would have loved them.

We spent Christmas 1992 with him in Perth, celebrated his 21st also. It was hard leaving him there when we left for home.

IN 1998 we welcomed him home, the family had grown, since he had left, twin neice and nephew, Kelsey and Tyler was born to Sharon and Kevin, and Ross and Maureen presented Ebony 4yrs old .Sharons other 2 boys,,  Luke 8yrs and Jaydn, who is Jodys Godchild, was 5yrs old. A lot of getting to know you time was had.

He had several jobs, couldnt find one that kept his interest, but then he got a job in Grape picking and Winery, he loved it. It was out doors, and we laught over how he could wear his shorts and sneakers... what he said all those years ago... his wish came true, except there was a better smell than garbage!

One morning he said he was going to grow a beard, he had about a week of growth but it was very blotchy, then he came out clean shaven, what happened to  the beard?, he put the wrong tube on his toothbrush, (shaving cream), and seeing it was all over his mouth, he shaved.

It was a few weeks after this episode when, we got that knock on the door, 9-15pm , Jody had been in an accident and at Boxhill hospital, he was transfered to St.Vincents, with head injuries, .at midnight.

Thinking back I could not understand how they could say he had serious head injuries, he had one small mark near his temple, his handsome face, not touched... now it is a beautiful memory to have..... our angel Son.

Jody passed away at 7.40pm on his fathers birthday.

On his rock it says, I never thought Id lose, I only thought Id win, leave the windows open and hold me in your hearts
