I’m shocked, Prof Haro popped into my head this morning and when I googled him I found that he had passed. I was lucky to have him when I attended CCC in the late 80’s. I remember my first class with him and him explaining that if he was gonna be there to teach then he expected us to be there to learn. We became friends and I always enjoyed having him as a professor during my time at school.

After I left CCC, we stayed in contact and would occasionally connect here and there. He left a lasting impression on me and helped to developer my love of travel. He also challenged me personally, I had raced my bicycle at the elite level and he would always ask me if I was a Jock or an athlete. I’d always say athlete, because I had interest outside of the sport of cycling and he would would say good!!!

We lost touch for a bit when my wife and I relocated to Texas for work. But occasionally we would connect on the phone and it seemed like we never missed a beat. I’m truly saddened to hear that he has passed and I know I’m a better person for knowing him and having learned a lot from him. He definitely lived his life to the fullest and loved his family & friends.

I was a student of Joe's in 2000 when I took a few of his Marketing classes at Camden County College. He was my favorite teacher. We would often run into each other at various plays, concerts, etc. I reconnected with Joe when I signed up for his walking tour of Haddonfield in May of 2019. Joe will always be missed by his many friends and family for his kindness, generosity, wit, playfulness and sense of humor.

I send thoughts and prayers to Joe's family and friends. I had the opportunity to sit with Joe and discuss Haddonfield issues. We attended Zoning Board and HPC meetings over Boxwood Hall. I so enjoyed his friendship in the Haddonfield Garden Club. My best memories I cherish are the chats with him and Terese in the garden. He always made me look at things differently or consider another angle on something. Thank you Joe for being presence in my life. God has you now.

Joe and I met about 3 decades ago through the Haddonfield Friends of the Library. We shared many years being Docents at many houses during Haddonfield's House Tours.
When the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts was being built Joe created the Tour Guide Program for the Kimmel Center. Knowing that I was interested in music, Joe brought me into the Volunteer Program at the Kimmel Center where I stayed for 10 years as a volunteer and Tour Guide. Joe and I created a POowerePoint presentation of the history of the Avenue of the Arts and the Kimmel Center which we presented at various non-profits in the Philadelphia area. I will always remember Joe for his friendship and generosity of his gifts of his knowledge.

Joe Haro was a mainstay at the Haddonfield Public Library. He was also a terrific library supporter, as well as a very effective advocate for culture, preservation, and Haddonfield. He livened up everywhere he went.
We attended several of his lectures at the Rodin. Also his presentations on preservation and architecture. He was a great teacher with so much humor.
He was also a great friend to many people. He was devoted to Therese Barringer. It was wonderful that they found each other and had such a loving relationship. Joe is missed by his many friends and acquaintances. RIP dear Joe, until we meet again. Sending sincere condolences to Joe's family and friends.

Joseph was a good friend, a wonderful guide, interested in many things.  I met him through the Foundation for Architecture;  he became one of its greatest guides.  I used to see him at concerts in Philadelphia; music was another of his passions.  He loved life;  was a generous friend; fun to be with.  He has left many people with happy memories.
Bless you, Joseph.

I have really struggled to find the right words to pay an appropriate tribute to my dear, dear friend, Joe Haro. In the over fifty years that I knew him, he was my mentor, my colleague, my travelling partner, and a man who made each and every encounter with him magical. His wide and diverse range of interests and his knowledge about marketing, higher education, art, architecture, politics, and all things Haddonfield made him a truly fascinating person – a veritable and genuine “one of a kind.” Joe was the quintessential conversationalist and I recall so many discussions we had, sometimes with complete strangers that he had invariably initiated. That is when he wasn’t barking. His incomparable zest for life was his unmistakable trademark. However, the greatest compliment I can give Joe is that whenever you were in his company he always made you feel like you were the absolute center of his universe. I am so very grateful for all the wonderful adventures I enjoyed with him during all those years and I will miss him terribly. Rest in peace dear friend, rest in peace.

We were shocked to hear of Joe's passing. We met him often, casually, at concerts of the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, or of the Orchestra, and spent many pleasant trips with him on the speedline as we traveled to the same venues. Joe was always upbeat, and a joy to talk to. He was a constant presence in the places we enjoyed, and so we feel his loss very deeply.

Joe became not only our next door neighbor when we bought our first home on Evergreen Lane, he became a forever dear, kind, and thoughtful friend. He added a lot of fun and silliness to our days on the Lane that my family will never forget.

Your contagious smile and laugh will be greatly missed, Joe.

Joe was a real gentleman, as well as a Haddonfield Icon, he will be missed. He was always very generous with his time sharing his knowledge of Haddonfield through the many tours that he led. We were happy to have him in the Haddonfield 65 Club.

I had the pleasure of meeting Joe through our Haddonfield 65 Club. I am a relatively new member to the Club, so I only knew Joe a short time, however he made a very positive impression on me as both a gentleman and a knowledgeable one at that. He will be missed.

Joe was a wonderful thoughtful man. He encouraged me to share my love for the Rodin. He supported me as I successfully trained and was approved to share Rodin with the public at Philadelphia's Rodin Museum.
Joe was so knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge with the PMA guides and many others.
I will miss his upbeat approach to each day.

I knew Joe as s talented and enthusiastic guide at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. As a fellow guide, I enjoyed Joe’s original & entertaining comments, especially in the Modern & Contemporary Galleries. Unfailingly polite, Joe was always a gentlemen, who greeted everyone with a warm smile and sincere interest. His fellow guides at the PMA will miss him immensely.

In 1953, Joe Haro and I became neighbors and school mates until 1957 when he graduated from high school and continued onto Indiana State University.  A year later I graduated from the same high school and went to Ball State University.  We lost track of each other and sometime around May of 1972, I was sitting at my desk in the Philadelphia Office of the FBI when my phone rang and someone said he was a reporter for the Gary Post Tribune and wanted my opinion, as a Special Agent, on the death of J. Edgar Hoover.  The reporter's questions became more and more uncomfortable and I finally asked his name and, of course, it was Joe.  We laughed and asked about each other and found that our mother's were still in Gary, Indiana and had recently learned that Joe was living in Haddonfield, NJ and I in Cherry Hill, NJ.  We renewed our friendship and Joe became like an uncle to my three children   He would rile them up by dancing, screaming and carrying on and afterwards leave so we could settle them down.  Joe and I did some traveling together to Ireland and the Bahamas and a few months ago, my daughter and I had lunch with Joe and that is the last time I saw him.  I will miss Joe and hold on to very fond memories I have for my long, long time friend of 67 years.  Bob Bazin
