I’m shocked, Prof Haro popped into my head this morning and when I googled him I found that he had passed. I was lucky to have him when I attended CCC in the late 80’s. I remember my first class with him and him explaining that if he was gonna be there to teach then he expected us to be there to learn. We became friends and I always enjoyed having him as a professor during my time at school.
After I left CCC, we stayed in contact and would occasionally connect here and there. He left a lasting impression on me and helped to developer my love of travel. He also challenged me personally, I had raced my bicycle at the elite level and he would always ask me if I was a Jock or an athlete. I’d always say athlete, because I had interest outside of the sport of cycling and he would would say good!!!
We lost touch for a bit when my wife and I relocated to Texas for work. But occasionally we would connect on the phone and it seemed like we never missed a beat. I’m truly saddened to hear that he has passed and I know I’m a better person for knowing him and having learned a lot from him. He definitely lived his life to the fullest and loved his family & friends.
