Joe was always know as Jody to all of us ! He was a fantastic brother. He could play a trumpet from the time I was in first grade. He practiced every day! One day I left a chess board on my bed with alll the pieces in play and we played one piece at a time !! What a challenge! I even stopped playing the clarinet and took up the trumpet hoping to play in the drum and bugle Corp. But I could only March in the drill team. He played the organ at Balboa Park, created the theme music for the science Lazarium. He was so musically inclined he was given a scholarship to Guliirard but didn’t go because he loved California so much. I missed him so much when he moved to Lake Tahoe because then I only talked to him by phone. He got really sick then his COPD was bad because of the thin air but his wife was there and he did any thing for her. Towards the end he came to to see me because he had a concert in Poway. I never knew that was the last time I would see him. He never came back after the concert that was November of 2018. He died February 2019. I went up to Lake Tahoe to be by his side until he died. Even His 90 year old Mother came to say goodbye to her only surviving son. She said some sweet things to him and was a very brave woman and mother. The whole experience I’ll never forget.
