Mr. Joel Bellamy was born on April 11, 1949 to the late Mr. Washington Bellamy and Inacy Newson in Palmetto, Georgia. He was called home December 21, 2011 after battling lung cancer.



Joel received his early educational experience in the Coweta County School System where he graduated from Central High School in 1968.



At a very young age he devoted his life to Christ and became a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Newnan, Georgia. He served as a dedicated deacon and treasurer for many years before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. While residing there Joel joined Salem Bible Church under Reverend Dr. Jasper Williams, Sr. leadership.



Transportation was always Joel’s passion. During his career he was employed as a limousine, truck, taxi, courier and bus driver. At the age of 61 he retired from the transportation industry.



In his absence, he leaves an enduring legacy. He is preceded in death by his brother Mr. Frank Bellamy, Mr. Joseph (Joe) Bellamy and Mr. Charlie Washington; sisters Mrs. Alma Jackson, Mrs. Christine Keil and Mrs. Mildred Williams.



Loving survivors include, mother, Inacy Newson; daughters, Kimberly McWhorter and Keisha Bellamy, stepson Zephaniah Leigh; grandchildren, Diamone Payne, Zion Payne, Olivia McWhorter and Andrew McWhorter; sisters, Sarah Lou Woods, Barbara (Bee) Woods, Linda Bellamy, Glenda Bellamy; brothers Earnest (Marion) Woods, Sr., Frank Bellamy, A.C. (Jessie) Bellamy; special friend, Kenneth (Valeria) Johnson; five step brothers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.



We will always remember Joel for his charming smile, sense of style, outspoken demeanor, quick wit and willingness to help others.
