Obituary

Joel W. Gibbon

Joel W. Gibbon, 46, of South Otselic, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, April 2, 2015, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital. Joel was born on December 14, 1968 in Norwich the son of Arnold and Betty (Davern) Gibbon. He grew up in Norwich and was a graduate of the Norwich High School. Over the years he has worked for several telecommunication companies including Protel. Joel was a very social and likeable guy. He liked his hunting, was a fan of the Grateful Dead and enjoyed the company of his feline and canine friends Reno and Toby. On July 12, 2008 he married his best friend Dawn Schneider who he had been together with for 25 years. Joel is survived by his wife Dawn of South Otselic, his brothers Jeffrey Gibbon and wife Linda of Norwich, Michael Gibbon and wife Kathy of Norwich, his step-mother Kareen Gibbon of Plymouth and step-brothers Wayne Law and wife Lori of Oxford, Lee Law and Stanley Law. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Committal services for Joel will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7 pm.
