This memorial website was created in memory of Juan Jose (Joe) Lopez. Dedicated Father - Beloved Grandpa - Loving Husband - FunLoving Brother - Compassionate Son - Faithful Friend - Passionate Fan Juan Jose (Joe) Lopez was born on February 14th, 1960. He passed away February 1, 2014 in his home with his family. He resided all of his life in Lockhart. Joe is the son of his late father, Alejandro Lopez Sr. and surviving mother Tiodora Lopez. He is survived by his loving wife Norma Lopez of 30 years, his 2 loving daughters Angelica Acosta of Kyle, and Sandra Lopez of Lockhart. He has 4 grandchildren which are his pride and joy, Imran Acosta Junior, Isaac Acosta, Israel Acosta, and Kaleb Anthony Ash. Also survived by 3 brothers, Ruben of Austin, Paul of Washington state, and Alex of Lockhart and 4 sisters, Ernestine Arredondo of Buda, Ruth Cantu of Beeville, Estella Soliz of Austin, and Janie Garza of Lockhart. A devoted family man, who cared deeply for his wife, and children. He loved spending quality time with his grandchildren and he will be missed by all his family. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, faithfully supporting his team, unlike a “generic fan” as he would call them. A kid at heart, he loved serving his community, by uplifting the students and staff of Plum Creek Elementary for 17 years. He expressed his love to all, by caring, joking, and serving to the best of his ability.

It has been 3 years, and it doesn't seem that long that we lost Joe. I hope that Mom, Dad, and Joe are together again. I miss them every day. They are in my thoughts every single day! I love them with all my heart. The only thought that keeps me going, is that someday we will all be together again. Joe died too young, he was the baby of our family. I know it hurt Mom so bad she just could not go on without him. It was just too much for her. Joe knew how to make everyone laugh, it made him so happy to make people laugh. I always thought he could have been a great stand-up comic. I know my girls Monica and Esther miss him as much as I do. He was a great brother and a wonderful Uncle to my daughters. MISS AND LOVE YOU JOE FOREVER!!!

The cowboys let him down again. But even the fact that they aren't playing in the Super Bowl, wouldn't faze him. My father-in-law, a real fan, wouldn't waver.

I think of him daily.
It's been a long, long year.
God is our strength, and His promises hold us up.
Lord, bring strength, comfort, and peace to our family and friends.
In Jesus' name.

I love my favorite uncle. I close my eyes and I can remember running thru his apartment then him yelling at me to be quite because his baby girl was asleep. He would always go to grandmas to visit me when I would go visit. He liked burnt tortillas, Billy Joel, and coke with peanuts. He is mine and my sisters favorite uncle always. I can't wait to see you again.

I'm still struggling to come to grips with the thought, that he's no longer with us.
I'm thankful, to be the son-in-law of such a great father. I'm constantly thinking, how can I live in such a way that will bring Glory to God, for what He has taught me, through the life of him.

Looking forward to Jesus fulfilling the Scripture's promise:

For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. (1 Corinthians 15:25, 26 ESV)

Resting, and trusting in Jesus to complete his mission.

I loved running into Joe. Wherever we would run into eachother we would always have a good laugh at our football teams. I love the Texans and he loved the Cowboys, always made out for a good time. He and my fathers used to always talk about how next season was "their" (Cowboys) season. I mentioned him in my sermon 'leaving a legacy- making your mark'. Joe made his mark on my life. He was always so kind and easy to be around. I thank God for allowing me to know him.

Arcade

February 6, 2014

Sometimes my father-in-law Joe, would come by the arcade to "check on me" and he'd always play a few games while he was there, just to make sure they were working okay.

He would also, always scope out the place, to make sure it was clean and ready for customers. He would remind me every single time he came, that if I needed help, he would come help me day or night.

He helped us move in to the new place, and out of the old place.
The last time he came by, we loaded up some furniture for a customer, and we sat for a few minutes talking about his post-retirement new career.... working at the arcade. We talked about how he could clean up, setup for the birthday parties, talk to the customers, and keep the knuckleheads in line.

Oh how I wish, I could take him up on that offer.

He loved the arcade.
