Joshi's Name

As I was going through old email, I found this neat explanation Joshi gave of the origin of her name.
"Joshi was a combination of both of my grandmothers names. The Icelandic one was Johanna, and the Japanese one was Shigeko, so my parents did not want one grandmother left out they just combined the two Jo from Johanna, and Shi from Shigeko....I am rarely called Johanna. In Iceland the letter "J" is pronounced w/ a "y"... But when I was 17...I petitioned to change my name to my step father, and dropped Shigeko (my given middle name), and added Asa, and dropped my old last name to Garrison"
