Unmatched talents, you impacted every life you came across, wanting the best of man. You could not be appreciated here enough. I know you watched that glorious day in 2013 and all the beautiful attendees. I was amazed myself. Whao!! papa did you meet and greet those thousands ? No wonder you had to move to a special place of higher grounds .
I know it's only by invitation. Death is not the word but that you ascended into the most high place. It is only by YOU GOD that this is possible. We donot count days and years anymore, we are busy with our endless funny, silly, educative, just wonderful memories of you. I remember you told me that money does not grow on trees. Reciting all my times table infront of you till i got it right paid off. The best teacher any student ever had. Thank you for doing your best. You were simply the best father any child can have. I can go on and on. You know I love you papa and your Legacy lives on.
It is just a year since you went to rest. We feel your love in abundance and know that you are in a perfect place. We share our everyday memories of you that brings a lot of laughter. We uphold your words and feel so blessed that you were our father. Your every response to our questions then and now keeps us laughing. We are greatful to God for the time we spent together. Thank you for being the best. We always love you and will make you proud. My loving and daring father, I greatly admired you!!! It me G1, Abu Akwen as you always called me.
Our thoughts are with you and your family during these difficult times.

Shadows on the wall
Noises down the hall
Life doesn't frighten me at all
Bad dogs barking loud
Big ghosts in a cloud
Life doesn't frighten me at all
Mean old Mother Goose
Lions on the loose
They don't frighten me at all
Dragons breathing flame
On my counterpane
That doesn't frighten me at all.
I go boo
Make them shoo
I make fun
Way they run
I won't cry
So, they fly
I just smile
They go wild
Life doesn't frighten me at all.
Tough guys fight
All alone at night
Life doesn't frighten me at all.
Panthers in the park
Strangers in the dark
No, they don't frighten me at all.
That new classroom where
Boys all pull my hair
(Kissy little girls
With their hair in curls)
They don't frighten me at all.
Don't show me frogs and snakes
And listen for my scream,
If I'm afraid at all
It's only in my dreams.
I've got a magic charm
That I keep up my sleeve
I can walk the ocean floor
And never have to breathe.
Life doesn't frighten me at all
Not at all
Not at all.
Life doesn't frighten me at all.

Right Thing, Right Time, Right Place
What did John A Tanyi say? "Do the right thing, at the right time and at the right place", everyone in my primary school class will shout this out aloud and together. This was your way of calling our class to order. And this has never left my mind.
Mr John A Tanyi, is this the right thing, is this the right time, is it......? You always practiced what you preached except the last thing you did.
No Teacher has ever taken a personal interest in me like you did, I remember you helping to button up my shirt and adjusting my collar as I was about to enter the classroom one day.. You took special interest in me among the many kids in school. You boosted my self image and level of confidence. You made me understand that I am a special kid and pupil. I became a very discipline lad, maybe because I did not want to disappoint you. You were my first mentor.
This connection did not end in primary school. I remember one time you drove your Subaru car to our house and asked my parents permission to take me out. Of course, they were surprised. You took me and one other kid to the country side of Bafut and Mankon village...that was a wow experience of my life, and you did drop me back home at dusk. Howmany kids were that previledged?
But you played a nasty trick on me.... I thought then I was the only one having this special treatment.
It still amazes me today how a hardcore disciplinarian, and someone with a fabulous and extravagant sense of humor could exist in the same person.
It amazes me evenmore how such a strict persanality could be so generous, like you were. You only came to know my parents through me, through the natural bond we had. I will remain in your debt for ever.
Unfortunately in those days there was no internet or cell phone. You later went to Britain, and we were not in touch for a very long while.
I breaks my heart that you passed on. I was hoping to sit down with you someday over a cup of palm wine and talk about the old stories. Some opportunity to say thank you indeed. The contribution you made to my life, at such an early stage cannot be overempasized.
Not now Mr John A Tanyi... Not now...
May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
