His Life

"It's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years"

Mr. John A. Tanyi was born in Bamenda.  A Baptist, and a boy's scout leader in his youth.  In the 1960’s he enrolled in BTTC great Soppo  Buea, where he was trained as a primary school teacher for the Baptist mission schools and received a pupil training certificate. Thereafter, he taught at Cameroon Baptist mission schools in Northwest Province. In the 1970’s he obtained the teachers grade Ⅲ, Ⅱ and Ⅰ certificates from government teachers training college Bamenda and taught in government primary schools in the northwest province. In 1986, he was sent to Great Britain by the Cameroon government for further studies in Education. He then obtained higher degrees in education from the University of Leeds & Hall, United Kingdom. He was the chief of service, finance and administration for the divisional delegation of education MINEDUC Mezam 1990 to 1993. By 1994 he was the Assistant Divisional Inspector for Primary, Nursery and Teacher Education Bui-Kumbo. Master of Discipline at (GTTC) Bamenda in 1995. From 1995 to 2008 he was the provincial pedagogic inspector for primary, Nursery and Teacher Education for the Northwest Province (PPI/NPTE). By 2009, he became the Directeur (Principal) ENIEG (GTTC) Mbengwi-Momo Division.  An Educator, Selfless in service and dedicated to the core. 
      His entire life was spent to the cause of educating minds. Everyone mattered, especially the poor and downtrodden. So loved and respected by all.  In March 2004 he received a well deserving award from the African development fund. In April 2008 he received another award for the formation in objective studies and competent developers. A strong member of west Cameroon union Teachers. 
A relentless educator revised the meaning of attending school. A master in conflict resolutions and Administration.  His neighborhood watch radio and community programmed cubed crime and made his community safe.  A soccer referee at home and abroad, at, the University of Leeds and Hull, UK.  Chairperson of several programs in his community and a trail blazer!!!! He organized a crime watch.  He was proactive in maintaining road safety without traffic lights. He came out and did the work in person, when there was traffic congestion or crime to maintain safety on the highway. His community benefited from his existence. A rare kind of human., I must tell you ###. Somehow, people like this, never last forever because of their service to mankind.  This is just part of his legacy. What is your legacy going to be????
