I am incredibly sad that John has passed. John was a very smart and devoted brother. We were only one year apart, so I grew up answering to both my name and his as people could never tell us apart. John and I were inseparable as youngsters. We played games together, built forts together, went to scouts together, tormented our sisters together, and often were disciplined together as we were usually in trouble together, and our mother was not one to spare the rod. John was always an A++ student. He excelled at math, geography, science, and languages. Before computers were translating, he was creating a multi-language dictionary in a notebook. He was 13 years old. That is how smart he was. John and I experienced a lot of good moments together, and we experienced some rough times as well. When we were in a children’s home in California, we shared a room. John was very intuitive of situations in the room, and I was aware he protected me through that experience. Through it all, I know John was a born-again Christian man who loved studying the Bible, attending services, and serving Christ in his community. He loved our family, including all his nieces and nephews, who remember him coming to our house for holidays, taking road-trips with us, and playing football and other games. He had a great sense of humor and a gracious personality, which will be sorely missed. Much love to my closest brother. Can’t wait to see you on the other side!
