Tack Boy...Tack...Shove Da Tiller Down!

February 13, 2021
As a Young Nassau Man (with No sailing experience) I knew Pa for about 57 years and really got to know him better after getting married to his niece Debbie over the past 47 years.

My union with Pa, his family, and especially with the boys gave me a new Sport to dabble in; model boat making and outright sailing. I got smitten by the Sailing Bug...and sort to learn all I could about the Sport, even investing in a few books for sailing instructions.

I learned All I could, from Sailing Terminology, Race Tactics, and Proper Rigging. Geno,  Pedro and I even purchased 2/2 man... Enterprise Sailing Dinghies in order to hone our sailing skills.

We sure did. We went Montague Beach as often as we could on weekends and Pa would bring his along Mini Fish  and I too would take chances trying to sail that Slippery thing which made me the butt of His many jokes, because I spent more time in the water each time I tact than on deck.

And so, because he knew I had a book on Sailing and was always spewing off at the mouth and showing off my new found sailing knowledge we used to get into many Tit-for-Tats...

I could hear him now...roaring with laughter while Shouting... "Bey...what kinda Sailor you izzz...you can't even stay on dat lil thing when you tact" or... "You izzz da only man I know who carries a book with Him Sailing and can't even Shove da tiller down without falling off...Tact Boy...Tact"

Don't worry folks...it ain't ova yet...we will have "Time Indefinite" to hone my craft...and hopefully he'll find "Someone Else to Fool Wit"...

Who Pa Knowles Was To Us

February 13, 2021
Deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of Pa Knowles. I remember first meeting Pa as Sister Loise’s husband, the Mechanic over 30yrs ago. He was a pleasure to know. Pa was honest and reliable when it came to his work, always. Never once did we have to return because of poor work being done on our family’s Cars. Pa was great at what he did. What was enjoyable was to sit and talk with Pa when I came to get my Car after he was finished. He was never in a rush to move on, he would spend time just chatting. Pa was a great friend of The Truth. I was even more ecstatic when I heard that Pa had dedicated his life to Jehovah. The last memory I have of Pa was last year after not seeing him for many years, he actually remembered who I was (smile). I look forward to welcoming Pa back real soon. May Jehovah provide comfort to his whole Family from ....

Looking Forward to the Future

February 13, 2021
Dear Knowles Family,
As many, many people....my wife and I look forward to the day when we can hug your parents again and welcome them back.  Your dad were always a quiet, doer, rather than a talkative...non doer. It will certainly be a wonderful thing when the curse on thousands of years, will come to an end.  We look forward to sharing the paradise with your parents that were our friends, and being a part of the those who will see the eternal end of death!

Much Love,
Allison, Betty-Jane Dean and Andrew Dea

My Fondest Memory of “Pa”

February 12, 2021
I remember one time at an assembly in Long Island a group of brothers young and old were discussing how dangerous it would to go cross Africa and the question was posed: Is it safer to walk across it or to sail around it knowing the inherent dangers? All of the younger men said it was less dangerous to walk and  the older brothers were saying it’s safer to sail. Brother Knowles all this time said absolutely nothing. So finally when he was asked his opinion he of course was the oldest among us and as we learned on that day the wisest simply said the safest thing to do is to not move and stay where you are. :-)

I had the privilege of meeting my precious brother John Knowles many years ago. A quiet, gentle gentleman with a smile that opened you heart and made you stop and chat or say a greeting.
A man who loved his family, brothers and friends.  There was one thing that stood tall and mountain like- his love for his wife.  'She was his pearl of priceless worth.'  I wondered how will he go on without her when she passes. "Jehovah proved to be his Jehovah" to him. His strength was clearly shown on behalf of his faithful servant John Knowles.
Jehovah will further show his loyal love and strength when he gives him endless life in his perfect world that will be filled with joy, peace and perfect health. Oh!!Jehovah how I long to embrace and welcome him back with that same warm loving smile. It's truly just around the corner.
