ForeverMissed

John Edward Mills passed away peacefully on March 13, 2023 at 66 years of age. Robert Matthew Mills and Helen Marie Johnson gave birth to John on December 17, 1956 in Darby Borough in Delaware County. He went to Holy Spirit as a kid, where he got to know the nuns and priests real well. He graduated from Sharon Hill High in 1974, and while there participated in winter and spring track.

While working on his Master’s degree, he received a job offer too good to decline. He then went on to work for SCI. Once again he had a job offer he could not refuse, and went to work at Peco. John spent his remaining years of work at Exelon.

He was an active uncle, and especially active father. John loved giving out Hess Trucks to his nieces, nephews, and kids. He was the Assistant Cub Scout leader for his son’s troop, but was an even better girl scout cookie salesman for his daughter. Bravest man for teaching his family finances, how to drive, and most importantly to travel and see the world.

His love of sports remained, as he continued skiing, bowling, biking and swimming throughout his life. He also loved watching his favorite teams Phillies, Flyers, Eagles and even got to see the Eagles go to the Super Bowl one last time.

Survived by loyal friends, and his loving family. His Memorial Mass will be held at Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish in Pitman at 11am on April 15th. Afterwards a luncheon will take place at John’s home

Uncle Jackie stepped in as a main father figure to me and took me under his wing. He encouraged me at age of 21 to travel and live in various parts of the country to grow as an individual and experience different aspects of life and people. I remember my first move and how excited he was for me. The night before I left he came over to MomMom and PopPop’s with a large paper map of the country outlined with my most direct route to Elizabeth, CO! I’m sure everyone close to him saw a map or two of his at one point lol) He sat there with me for hours going over my route and what to expect from n each state! He had a contagious smile and laugh I will never forget. I will always remember the motorcycle bike rides to the parks on Sundays and his water bed he kindly gave me to at age 9 when he had to give it up.
So many memories and not enough time to make more. I love you Uncle Jackie, always and forever.

Jack, you were a great brother-in-law. Always ready to have fun and enjoyed the day. We spent many hours at the beach and family gatherings and lots of laughs. Playing cards or Uno, you were always a good sport. You will be missed but never forgotten. All ways in our hearts, God bless.

I met Jack while on storm duty @ PECO many moons ago & he took me under his wing showing me some of the ropes- even of stuff on his 3 big monitors that didn't mean a thing to me :) He was so full of knowledge and was always a wonderful kind soul to talk to. We played the powerball in a group when it was a big amt & I was in Plymouth for one reason or another. I always stayed in touch with him via email, IM, phone or text. I recently met him back in July (I think) over at ACE in Mays Landing. He came in specifically to ensure I could get in and show me where I could plant to get my computer connected to the network so I could connect with the Help Desk. We talked for a few hrs there and he reiterated how he was taking his vacation time (all planned out) and then retiring. I still didn't believe he was going to do it even though I knew later in Oct that he talked to HR. I always expected him to come back after and NEVER expected this. He mentioned how he specifically worked the first week of Oct to ensure he would be eligible for AIP in March. Guy was SOOOO smart!!!! He knew everything!!!  He was looking forward to spending extra time in Ocean City with the family after his shoulder surgery(think it was shoulder). He was always full of stories of where he went with his family.... he even convinced me to go to Canada to see the Falls by talking about his trips. Talked about his skiing with Woodsy (another great soul missed). I loved how he was always laughing, joking and was just an infectious happy dude. I truly thoroughly enjoyed talking with Jack and often inquired with him on things.  I still have all of his last IM's on my computer. I recently had a drink to him with some others from Exelon & we had no idea that he wasn't well. This is how much he is just adored by everyone! I am SO terribly saddened to have gotten the text that he had passed and will miss being able to talk to him. I hope and pray for you- his family- that you can all find comfort in all of your memories with him. I'm so sorry for your loss!
May God be with all of you and may you rest in peace Millsie!
What a fitting song to choose to this also!!!! Gone, definitely too soon!!!!

Uncle Jack was full of life who loved to travel and I always enjoyed his stories of all the places he got to venture to. I have so many memories growing up at his Pocono house as a kid and was always so grateful he loved having/sharing his home with family. I will always remember his kind soul, his big personality and his corky smile that always had a laugh that followed. He was one of a kind and will truly be missed! May he rest easy
