John was born on April 12th, 1956 to Stanley and Marie Dlugolecki. He was raised in Oak Lawn Illinois along with his younger brother Jeff. After graduating high school, John went on to work various jobs including a position at a nursing home where he met his future wife Sherry (Schultz). They were married on September 29th,1979, and went on to have two children, a son Josh, and a daughter Sara. John worked for Servicemaster for 25 years, where he was a Plant Manager. He later worked for Carson's until his retirement in 2019. Thereafter, he spent his retirement days with his loving partner Christine going on many adventures and traveling.

John was passionate about music and the arts. He was an avid collector of many things including art glass and historical pieces. He will always be remembered as a loving friend and father, an engaging storyteller, and a goofy guy with a quick wit. He will be missed dearly by all that loved him.
