I remember how strong grandpa was. When my sisters and I would go to visit he could lift each of us up while we hung onto his biceps. He was such a dependable grandpa!

And I remember we would always play with his hair putting it in pigtails and rediculous styles! And he would always say he was beautiful John with a silly joke.

He was such a jokester too. Always singing about chickens and telling the same kind of jokes but they were always funny to me.

I loved hearing him play guitar and the harmonica and tell his stories about before he was in the military. I could have listened for a long long tine.

He always used to feed the dog bologne and he always had plain donuts around to have with his coffee. He made the best chicken nuggets I've ever tasted amongst all the other awesome treats he made. We were always spoiled going to the grandparents house! Even if we wasted it watching cartoons a lot!

I could probably go on forever talking about everything. I only wish I spent more time with him. I'm so glad we have heaven to look forward to where We will catch up and go fishing and talk about all the things that happened after he went home. Love you grandpa! Love you too grandma!

Lillian, l love this picture of you and John. I have been thinking about him lately, especially when I pass a corn field. I can him saying, the corn needs to be "Knee High by the 4th of July. " The corn is growing nicely here and I sure John is watching it grow everywhere. I am so glad I had the opportunity to know him. He was a wonderful man. He always made people laugh. You have a wonderful day. Hope to visit Minnesota next summer.</

"Dad.........we laughed so often. All those jokes you told over and over, same old jokes but still were just as funny as when you first told them."

ALL my memories of him are special, so it's hard to choose..the most special is that whenever we saw each other, no matter what was going on, he ALWAYS had a smile and 2 or 3 (or 5 or 6) jokes..did you hear the one a bout the guy who woke up and his pillow was gone? He dreamed he ate a giant marshmellow...! Ohhhh..John.. .he also could have very serious and helpful conversations too.....someday i'll hear him again say..."well, hi ya Patsy..!".....did ya hear the one about..... Bill and i forever miss you john...RIP
