John “Scotty” Gillan, born on May 2, 1936 in Clydebank, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The Scottish Highland Winds came for John on August 4, 2020.
He passed away with his loved ones by his side.

Life for Scotty was rather uneventful in Scotland until March, 1941, when two nights of bombing by the Germans devastated the town. Scotty's family lost everything. He would later suffer from Scarlett Fever and a Pleural Effusion.

His sister-in-law, living in the United States, assisted in his emigration to New Jersey, where he went dancing and met the love of his life. He said she was the most wonderful person he had ever know, they were happily married until her passing in 2006. He then looked forward to the time they would be together again. That day has come.

John is predeceased by his wife Arleen J. Gillan, his parents, Robert and Helen Gillan and his brother, Robert Gillan.
Loving step-father of Arleen Giunta (Vito), Debbie Leonhardt (Bob), Joanne Fidell (John), Joseph Armstrong, his sons John Gillan and Allan Gillan. Dear grandfather of Nicholas Giunta, Bobby Leonhardt, Madeline Giunta, Chelsea Leonhardt, Phillip Fidell, Lillian Fidell.

No memorial events are currently scheduled.

Scotty, you were a good man, a great father-in-law and the finest Scotsman I've ever known.

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall softly upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
