His Life

A native of Pensacola, FL., and the son of the late Wallace and Daisy L. Mims Hodges, Mr. Hodges retired from the U.S. Army after over 20 years of service. He also retired from civil services at Ft. Benning, GA after 20 years of service with the Waste Water Treatment Division. He was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Sidney L. Hodges, Mildred Powell, Leontine Harris and Edna Howard.

Surviving are a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Birdie Hodges; one son, John L. Hodges, Jr; two daughters, Sheila Rogers(Forest) and Carla Lanier; four grandchildren, Tavis Rogers, Kalinda Rogers, Everett Lanier III and Cerita Reed; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Woods and Rosalind Gordon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
