ForeverMissed

On July 25th, 2023, the world lost a beloved member of its community, John Iannacchione, after a lengthy illness. Born November 14th, 1959, John's life was marked by an unwavering love for his family, a passion for old horror and sci-fi movies, and the desire to help others.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Sherri (Swecker), with whom he shared over 40 years of love and happiness. He was a loving and caring father to his daughter, Francesca (Zac) Howard. John's warm presence will be deeply missed by his mother, Lina Iannacchione, and his siblings: Jim Iannacchione, Rick (Fadia) Iannacchione, and Ester (Jim) Presutto. He also leaves behind his beloved in-laws, Peg Johnston, Patty (Dave) Kruzinski, Kathy (Jim) Beebee, as well as numerous loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

While John spent many years as an office manager, it will not be his career, or the dementia that cut his life short, that defines him. He will be remembered for the love he shared with his family and friends. He had a special way of brightening everyone's day with candy and "blue barrel hugs" until "blue time". Among his nieces and nephews, John was a favorite uncle, always willing to roll on the floor and engage in playful games. He was the best jungle gym in the world and had the perfect shoulders for piggyback rides, even if those rides ended quickly in haunted houses.

An avid fan of horror and sci-fi movies, John embraced low-budget productions with enthusiasm. He shared his love of "hokey" horror and sci-fi with everyone, and countless nights were spent enjoying the adventures of Star Trek, Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, or Dr Who together.

John's curiosity and passion extended to his basement workshop, where he delighted in tinkering with computers and crafting unexpected creations from computer parts. He was a true innovator, enjoying the process of bringing new ideas to life.

Deeply proud of his heritage, John also played an integral role in organizing the early years of the Festa Italiana and was a devoted member of the Unione Abruzzesse. He celebrated his roots and shared his cultural pride with those around him.

Above all, John's generous spirit was evident in his unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He approached each act of kindness as a step towards easing someone's burden, firmly believing that every assistance provided was "one less day in Purgatory".

John now joins his beloved son, Antonio Iannacchione, and his father, Domenico Iannacchione, in a joyful reunion. Together with departed uncles, aunts, and cousins, they look upon us, guiding and watching over us as we cherish the memories of their vibrant lives. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at River Oaks, Affinity Hospice, and Ohio Valley Hospice as they cared for John. Knowing his compassionate care team was there to lean on eased our suffering.
While John once playfully insisted on being buried with the tomatoes in his garden, a funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Akron on Saturday, September 9th at 11AM followed by a private ceremony at Holy Cross Cemetery. Prior to the service, friends and loved ones are welcome to gather at Galt Park Lodge (2000 Oneida Ave Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221) from 5-7:00 PM on the preceding day, September 8th to share heartfelt stories of John's adventures and antics, keeping his spirit alive.
