I took Jack to renew his driver's license as this was "my area," according to Marialena. We got to the NJ dmv and I had every concern that because he walked with a cane, he would encouter some difficulty. I made sure he had all the required documents and so we went in and obtained a number for service.
As we walked to find a seat, a woman behind the counter waved to us to come forward. We did so. She said; "You are John Olley?" "Yes"
She said; " did you teach at Clearview high school?..... English?"
He responded that he did and asked how she knew him. Turns out she was a former student whose brother played football with one of his boys.
No worries about the renewal from this point forward, as she process his license and made his day! He really didn't drive much afterwards, but we had a great day.

Jack had a heart of gold and was the rock of the family. I loved him dearly! I will miss bantering with you dad.

Mr. Olley was one of my favorite teachers. So kind. I will never forget that he took the time to visit my home to talk to my Mom. I used to write a lot of poetry, and he actually read it and told my Mom that I was "brilliant" (way too kind of him!). A wonderful man, who will be missed by many of his students! Mr. Olley , I will never forget how you were the driving force in me joining the KOC and how you made me come out of my shell to do great things for other people. You made me start helping with church collections and being a greeter , you also talked my father into joining and that in it self was a miracle. Sorry for your loss to the whole Olley family, and Bernadette.

So long to a guy that gave joy to me. I appreciate the times we shared just being together. Jack always participated how he could with a positive attitude and a witty jab. God bless his soul. God bless his family.
