John was born into a family of nine siblings. He was second to the youngest, and had many stories of adventure to tell about his brothers and sisters. He always dreamed of building bridges when he was a child and grew up to be a Carpenter at the age of eighteen with the Local Carpenters Union 136 out of Dayton. Construction was his passion. He worked as a carpenter until he passed.
John his survived by his son Brandon Mass, daughter Alana Mass, step-daughter Michelle Norris, and his two grand daughters Tayler and Ava, brothers Robert, Richard(Angela), and Donald, sisters Merceda, Deedee, and Lillian. He has proceeded in death by his mother and father, Bob and Rita, his brother, Danny, sister, Mary, niece, and nephew, Tony and Rita.
John had many friends, nieces, nephews and family that will remember him in the good times they shared. He will be very missed.
Celebration of Life will be held March 26 from 3-5 at the

I was heartbroken when I heard of John's passing. Knowing John for over 40 years I can say he was a true friend and a top carpenter who made working with both fun and rewarding. I will miss his smiling face and the great times we spent together. My sincere condolences to his family.

I remember Johnny as a good and funny guy...a great cousin with great memories of childhood reunions with all the aunts/uncles/and cousins...cousins...
(wish we had done more of those as we all grew up) Love to the family, Margie

I haven't seen cousin John (we called him Johnny) since the Malay/Mass reunion in 2003. I recall an energetic, fun (a little goofy ) and family oriented person. Our 'get -togethers' with the entire Mass clan growing up were always a blast. My sincere condolences to the siblings and his immediate family.
Love,
Hugh

Well.  I’m not sure what to say here. It’s just so unbelievable.  You go through life thinking you have time to visit or reconnect with those that meant so much to you, until you don’t. I loved Johnny.  He was my husbands best friend. We spent so much time together during life’s changes. We all carried each other during difficult times. And celebrated the good times.  Here is what I know. He loved his children and was so proud of them. Though he may not have been so good at expressing it. He loved who he loved. And if you were one of those luckypeople, you knew it with the sparkle in his eye and a grin on his face. Awww John. Why didn’t you tell us?
