There are many stories to tell about my friendship with John, well, maybe friendship is not the term to be used here, I loved him like a brother. He had a quick, dry, wit about him that could make you laugh even at times when he wasn't trying to be funny. I guess that stems from his positive attitude, and bright outlook on life.

One of my fondest memories of John is one of a day we were playing golf. It was an extremely hot day, the temperature was just over 100 degrees and we had walked the front nine holes of the course, and sweating like crazy. After finishing the front nine, we decided to head for the clubhouse, get something to drink, and cool off for a while.

Now I had never known John to drink alcohol at all, but when we got into the clubhouse, he ordered two ice cold bottles of beer and a frosted mug. What a surprise that was, I broke into laughter and laughed for quite some time. We talked about how hot it was, and whether or not to play the back nine holes,
well, we both loved to play golf, and decided that we would finish out round.

But John said to me in his dry witty way, " To hell with walking, this time we get a cart."  Again, I broke into laughter at the look on his face, and knowing that he was serious about the cart. So, we got the cart, finished the round, and still were sopping wet with sweat.

Yes, to me John was more than a friend, he was the brother I never had, and though there came the time when we didn't play golf anymore, and distance kept us from visiting often, I thought of him often, and still do today.

John was a super guy, a special person, and he will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.

God has gained an angel of angels.
