On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, Lois B. Harrison, age 98, went on to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents Reverend Earl B. Bloodsaw and Mollie Stone Bloodsaw, her husband Matthew Harrison, sister Lottie Ruth Bloodsaw McGuire, brother John W. Bloodsaw and nephew Earl Austin and his wife Sandy.
Lois, a native of Monroe, Georgia, was born on January 28, 1920 to Reverend Earl B. Bloodsaw and Mollie Stone Bloodsaw. Lois received her education at Thompson School in Monroe and later relocated to Dayton, Ohio in 1944—she was a resident for more than 74 years. After 40 years of service at Miami Valley Hospital as a physical therapist aide, Lois retired in 1985.
Devoutly spiritual, Lois was baptized at Spring Hill A.M.E. Zion Church in Monroe, Georgia and remained a loyal member there until her relocation to Dayton, Ohio. Once in Dayton, she became an active and impassioned member of St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church in 1946 where she served on their usher board for more than 50 years.
Lois loved her family, especially her son, daughter-in-law, grandsons, great grandsons, nieces and nephews. She could often be found cooking, baking, sewing and engaged in a host of various activities. Her pies, cakes and fried chicken were the staples of many meals associated with endless birthdays, weddings, holidays and more. As the third sister of four siblings, Lois was always present in the lives of her sisters Lottie Ruth and Alice—the latter of whom she watched over until she transitioned—and her brother John. Her additional interests included reading the daily newspaper, working her word puzzles and tending to an enviable garden.
She leaves behind to celebrate and remember her life her son, Eric R. (Phyllis) Harrison of Dayton, Ohio.Her two cherished grandsons Quentin D. Harrison of Atlanta, Georgia and Brandon D. (Sarah) Harrison of Dayton, OH, and her great grandsons—Brandon Jr., Ethan and Gabriel Harrison of Dayton, Ohio. Four nieces—Lois P. McGuire (of Dayton, Ohio), Mary A. Gant of Dayton, Ohio, Monica Sumerlin of Dayton, Ohio, and Angela V. (Gregory) Anderson of Marietta, GA; two nephews—Richard (Nolly) Austin Esq. of Dayton, Ohio, William (Diane) Bloodsaw of Shaker Heights, Ohio and many more loving family members and friends.
