John's Obituary

March 27, 2015

John Pinson Carter, 53. of Irondale passed from this life on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. John attended the Episcopal Day School,  the Donoho School, Anniston High School, and Saks High School in Anniston, before ultimately graduating in 1980 from E.B. Erwin High School in Centerpoint. He received an Associate of Science Degree from Jefferson State Community College and received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Montevallo in 1987.
Following graduation he joined the Irondale dental practice of his father, Dr. William A. Carter, as a dental lab technician, a craft he had worked at part-time while pursuing his education.  After years of hard work, John formed Eastwood Dental Labortory, which served a large number of dentists throughout the Southeast.  John also taught many other young dental technicians.
However,  even though he was a successful entrepreneur, John will most be remembered for his love of his family and friends, and his kindness and support of his fellow man. He was a loving son, brother,  father, uncle, and grandfather. However, it was his role as grandfather to Zane that brought his life its greatest joy and its ultimate fulfillment.
John was predeceased by his mother, Erma A. Carter and grandmothers Lois S. Carter, and Lois A. Moore.   He is survived by his father and stepmother, Dr. William A. Carter and Ann C. Carter; daughter Leslie Renae Carter; grandson Braeden Zane Carter; sisters Donna Carter Kracke (Walter) and Tina Marie Carter; step-sisters Bridget Burney (Jeff), Lawanna Wade (Donny), Lisa Reese (Dennis); step-brother Ray Burgess (Jerri); and nephew William Carter Kracke.
A Celebration of John’s Life was held Saturday, December 20, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Irondale, with Rev. Bruce Neal and Rev. Alton King presiding. A graveside service followed at Forest Crest Cemetery in Irondale.
In remembrance of John, please contribute to the charity of your choice. Two charities John supported with both his time and money were the Brother Brian Mission and the Lovelady Center.
