This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, John Michaels, 78 years old, born on June 18, 1939, and passed away on February 22, 2018. We will remember him forever.

John Roger Michaels of Los Angeles, CA passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday, February 22, 2019.  John is remembered by his wife of 35 years, Janet Shirley, his sister Janet Ainsworth, his 5 children from a previous marriage, Kevin, Wendy, Jon, Amy, and Bree, and his stepson Cullen. John also has 9 grandchildren. He was born on June 18th, 1939 in Los Angeles to Roger and Winifred Michaels. John grew up in Los Angeles, CA but also spend a few years on his uncle’s farm in Olivet, Kansas where he learned to appreciate the outdoors and nature. The family moved back to California and settled in Inglewood where he graduated from Manual Arts high school in 1957. 
John worked for Bank of America as an advisory systems engineer in computer operations where he retired after 38 dedicated years. In his retirement, he took care of his beautiful hillside property with fruit trees and orange groves dating back to the 1920’s.  He also worked for the USDA Forest Service as a park ranger. He was a member of several skeet shooting clubs in the valley and won several championships all around the country. He was also an avid duck hunter, fisherman and all around outdoorsman. 
Rest in peace, Dad. You truly are one of a kind. Thank you for everything you taught us, we will miss you.
