John was born on 19th February 1944 in Egypt. His father worked for the British Air Force out there.

They came over to England during the Suez crisis when all British subjects had to leave Egypt.


He had a few jobs, but it was whilst he worked at Bairnswear that we met in 1967. We were married in October 1968 and our first child, a daughter, Chantelle Marie was born in November 1969. Dean John followed in September 1971 and then Michele Elizabeth in April 1976.


We lived in Bulwell when we first got married and moved a few times before finally settling in Calverton when John got a job at the local pit. We have lived there ever since.


We have 8 grandchildren who John loved very much. He was very proud of all his children and grandchildren and I am sure he is still watching over them and taking care of them as he did when he was here.


He died on 15th May 2011 after returning from a lovely holiday in Cyprus.
