Formerly of Holyoke and Easthampton, MA, John passed away suddenly in Englewood, FL on November 29. He was a 1970 Holyoke High School graduate. John was an independent contractor and carpenter, specializing in patio decks, and was an accomplished photographer. He relocated to the West Palm Beach area and became a field superintendent with RJM Homes, Inc. Of recent years, he was employed as a bridge operator for Sarasota County.
John was pre-deceased by his father, Harold Berger. Mourning his loss are his mother Jan Berger Oehler and her husband Bill; his siblings: Barbara Boucher and her husband Paul of W. Springfield, MA; Eric Berger and his wife Gail of Crofton, MD; Gretta Tucker and her husband Larry of S. Hadley, MA, and Susan Maggio of Wellington, FL; William Oehler and his wife Wendy of Coventry, CT and his special friend, Patti Hanson. In addition, he leaves Godparents June and Richard Berger; two cousins: Leesa and Paula Berger; eleven nephews and nieces: Chris, Emma, Jennifer, Kimmy, Melissa, Molly, Paige, Ricky, RJ, Selena, and Tim; and nine great-nephews and nieces: Avery, Calleigh, Cody, Ethan, Fynnleigh, Liam, Mia, Rocco, and Sage.
John’s kind and compassionate demeanor and his great sense of humor will be remembered in a gathering of friends and family at his sister Susan’s home in Wellington on Thursday, December 4. Leave a tributeI am so sorry to hear the news of John's passing. I enjoyed seeing the pictures. I remember visiting your home as a kid and mostly playing with the girls, but I am sure John was part of the fun too. I remember playing in the basement!
