John & I grew up together in the Grace Baptist Church and we were kind of smittened with each other when I was a freshman & he a junior.
Shortly after I began dating my late husband Tom of 53 years when he passed in 2013.
My heart goes out to you and your family, but especially you Sharon. I know you must be experierncing the pain & loss that I've been feeling for 2 1/2 years. I find the hardest at bedtime when he isn't there to say Goodnight & I love You & get a hug. I take comfort in knowing we will be reunited someday, but it doesn't seem to lessen the lonliness. God gives me strength on a daily basis, but I can't stay up 24 hrs. a day.
Hume Lake was a special place for our highschool youth group. I would like to donate on behalf of John but I would also like to honor Lynn Karo.I don't know if you had the privilege of knowing Lynn, but he too loved Hume, and I believe he passed away up there. He too became a pastor after receiving Christ at Grace Baptist in his high school days.
I believe he ministered at Hume prior to his passing. I have the book he wrote called "Adventure in Dying", loaned it out, & not sure I got it back. His wife Nancy completed the final chapter. Forgive me if you already know these things since he & John were such good friends. Lynn has been gone for so many years.
There isn't an address on this memorial for Parkway Community Church, so I'm not sure where to mail it. I've given my e-mail address above so perhaps someone can send it to me.
May God fill you with Joy, at this difficult time in your life, and Peace to get you the sleep you need to be there for your family. God Bless You, Jeanie Lapp (Baker)
