Johnny Hildred Parham, a resident of Granville County passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Duke Medical Center after an extended illness with his family and friends at his side.

A native of Granville County, he is the son of the late Ottis T. Parham and Annie Newton Parham. Born and raised in the Mt. Creek Community, he graduated Stovall High School in 1957. After driving an over-the-road truck for Thurston Motor Lines in Raleigh for many years, he opened and operated an auto repair garage (Triangle Sales & Service) in eastern Durham County where he and his family lived for 35 years. After retiring, the family returned to Granville County in 2004 where he loved riding his John Deere tractor on the farm. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Kathryn Hunt Parham of the home; a son, H. Wesley Parham; two daughters, Nancy (Keith) Yancey and Dianne Powell of Oxford; four grandsons, Ian (Mary Allison) Yancey of Raleigh, Adam (Kristin) Yancey of Raleigh, Carson Yancey and Evan Powell of Oxford. He is also survived by: his sister, Ann P. Clement of Oxford; three nieces, Patricia P. Chandler of Rural Hall, Anita E. Ayers of Oxford, and Jeaney P. Edwards of Charlotte; nephew Sammy Clement of Oxford; and many first cousins and longtime family friends Lamond and Jeanette Hodges. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his older brothers James T. Parham and W. Kenneth Parham.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in the Eakes Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford by Rev. Keith Williams. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetary in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 1:45 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home.

Memorials or donations can be made to Mountain Creek Baptist Church or Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
