Johnny Rosacker

NORFOLK — Services for Johnny W. Rosacker, 88, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Home for Funerals. The Rev. Rodney Rixe will officiate with burial in the New Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk.

Visitations will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Home for Funerals.

Mr. Rosacker died Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Norfolk Veterans Home.

Johnny was born on Nov. 8, 1923, the ninth child of John and Alvina (Otte) Rosacker at Carroll. He was baptized at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. He graduated from rural school.

Johnny entered the U.S. Army on March 23, 1943, and received his honorable discharge on Sept. 8, 1943.

On Oct. 17, 1946, Johnny married Elsie Muehlmeier. The couple resided their entire lives in Norfolk.

After driving truck for a few years, Johnny began his career with the Nebraska Department of Roads. He was a mechanic and also helped with snowplowing. Johnny retired from the Department of Roads after serving over 20 years.

Johnny was a successful trap shooter, having won many trophies. He enjoyed hunting deer, water fowl and upland game. He also enjoyed collecting guns. Johnny was a very helpful neighbor. He was a great gardener and he loved to dance with his wife.

Johnny is survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and five sisters.
