We are so sorry that we can't be there to celebrate Jon's life.
We bought our condo in October of 2002. When we first arrived to move in we noticed a black Cadillac in the neighbors driveway and were worried that maybe some Italian Mafia people were moving in. We were really relieved to find out that it was just an Oki from Orange County. From the beginning we spent time enjoying the tranquilly of Rancho Las Palmas. We would sit on the patio with Jon and Becky and be so great full to have such a great life.
Jon always made sure that our patio was clean and the golf cart charged before we arrived. We had a tradition of picking up Papa Dan's Pizza the night we arrived, the last several miles on highway 10 would be spent on the phone making arrangements for the pizza dinner. We would sit on the patio with our pizza and wine talking about what had happened in our lives since our last visit. When we came back last month to see Jon, it was important to him for us to share a Papa Dan's pizza and we did.
We became close friends with Jon and Becky from the very beginning. Our families became close as we spent many holidays together.
Jon was the best neighbor, he was always there to help and had the right tool for every project. We really enjoyed our golf adventures with Jon and Becky. Jon hit that long ball and at times it even ended up in the fairway.
Their last trip to Monterey with Judy and Bruce last September was special.
We played golf on the coast , Jon was hurting but was determined to finish.
It was the last golf game of his life. He felt good that he beat Jim by 2 strokes that day.
We will never forget Jon and Becky's first visit to Monterey. He wanted to go out to the former Fort Ord where he trained in the Army. He took us directly to the barracks and the room that he had stayed in over 35 years ago. How did he do that???
We will always remember Jon for that friendly smile, his kindness and his humor. Our visits to the desert will never be the same, Jon will always have a special place in our hearts.
We love you Jon and you know we will always be there for Becky.
