The first test of a truly great man is his humility.
A great man is different from an eminent one
in that he is ready to be the servant of the society.
Joe! you are indeed a Great Man;

Time flies like an arrow. I just heard of the sudden death of my dearest beloved brother Joe yesterday! I cried at my 60+ years of age, because Joe was a true brother and partner with me at Bell Communications Research. He and his wife have always been unselfish to listen to all my whinnings on the phone. I will forever miss Joe, a caring and loving person. Pat and Jerome, please keep hope alive, and let me know at any time the voids I can fill with the untimely death of Joe. May God continue to bless us each day as grief, and celeberate the great life our brother lived. Please, touch the spirit of someone today, and help someone in need so that my brother Joe's dream may be fulfilled. To all who are trying to set of funds to make Joe's memory last forever, please email blessamos@yahoo.com

"A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle"
Dr. Joseph Meyinsse can aptly be credited with lighting sooooo many candles! Yet, he lost nothing. He will live on in ALL of these candles. No, he lost nothing, but has now gained everything-eternally.

Dr. Meyinsse was such a hard working person. Whenever it came to SMED or its students, Dr. Meyinsse went out of his way to accommodate and give his support. He has been such an integral part to my education since I switched over to SMED in 2012. I was looking forward to having him advise and further guide my research. He will be truly missed as a leader and role model for all of SU.

Whenever I would see you in our office (VCAA) you were ALWAYS smiling. You were "Mr. SU". always happy, kind, and helpful. You always encouraged me to ..."keep up the good fight"...I will. To your family: If half the people at SU were as friendly & helpful as Dr. M, we would have a better school. You will be missed, esp'ly that SU suit, shoes and smile. God Bless U & Yours! Brenda J.

There’s no word that can express how sorry I have been since I heard about the death of Dr. Joseph Meyinesse. I was very stunned to hear this news and still can’t believe that it really happened. He was a most astute advocate of higher education and was full of integrity, who always served the best interests of his students. No one can forget his demeanor and professionalism with his big beautifu

I'm heart-broken, but grateful. I'm grateful to have met such a gentleman and scholar. Anyone could see your smile from miles around. I pray I have the opportunity to impact at least half the lives you did. I still had so much to learn from you. I will be wearing the scarf you brought me from Africa, this weekend in your honor. My prayers are with your family. You will be missed SO much!

Dr. Meyinesse was an exceptional scholar, colleague, and friend with the brightest smile. A gentleman who always dressed like he had just stepped off the cover of the GQ magazine. Our last lively conversation the week before he passed, will remain with me! A first-rate human being who is gone far to soon but a life well lived! He will be greatly missed. Deepest sympathy! Rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy to Dr. Patricia Meyinesse and family upon your tremendous loss. We, too, will miss your loved one and our colleague. Just last week, he convened a meeting of the University Curriculum with his usual skill, aplomb, and pleasant nature. He was a friend to so many students, faculty and staff. Hold fast to the treasured memories.  Sincerely, Joyce & Kenneth O'Rourke

Short but Impactful

November 10, 2013

Dr Meyinsse. Can't believe it that he is gone home to be with His creator. It seemed I have known him for ages but no. Only for a very short time. My first face to face meeting with Joseph was less tha three years ago and that meeting made an impact in my life . We talked as if we had known each other for a long while. he played me my home country music knowing I just came from Nigeria. We talked about music about life in Ghana and Nigeria and Africa. We talked about the beauty of Africa and how it could be made more beautiful.
And then of course this man made life easy for my wife and I. My wife happens to be his doctoral student. He provided help when it was needed. Provided funding out of his grants for my wife's research. Dr Meyinsse wanted her to complete the program on record time and he encourged and taught her.  As her Professor, Dr Meyinsse did not mind going out of his way to help drive my wife when her car broke down on the highway. Just a phone call and he was there to help. Helper of the helpless, you can call him.
Here was a man who never failed to help people in their hour of need, yet when it was his turn there was none to help. He helped unconditionally. What a life? what a man! A man who was happiest at the success of his students. That is godly love.
What shall we say?
God, the owner of Dr Meyinsse, called him home out of this world of so many contradictions. The Rewarder of all those who diligently seek Him, clalled Joseph home . The One who gave us His Son to die on the cross that we all might have eternal life of bliss with HIM, when our work here is done, has called Joseph home to rest from all his earthly struggles and this world of sin. Jesus Christ, Meyinsse's Messiah , and the Messiah that we all are in need of, has called him home. From his vintage position Joseph would probably be saying like Paul, the Apostle, "I have fought the good fight and finished my course" Yes indeed, he has run a good race and finished strong.

An angel in disguise is the only explanation I can understand. Dr. Meyinsse was sent here to do divine work. To bless the lives of his students, colleagues, friends, family and strangers. Now it is time for him to return to his heavenly home for his next assignment.

Everyone I speak with has a unique story about how you enriched their lives. I have to admit I am a little jealous I thought that contagious smile and warm embrace every time we spoke was something you just gave me...but you shared your love with everyone and we all our grateful.

Although you were not my professor I never stopped learning from you. You're motivational talks and encouraging words will always be in my heart. Along with your unique laugh that was sometimes funnier then your jokes! :)

I am eternally grateful that the Lord placed me at Southern University where I was able to be mentored by one of his very own. I rest knowing that God is saying the same thing we all are saying here on earth..."Job well done Dr. Meyinsse!"
