His Life
June 9, 2015

Joseph A. Petrillo, 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida died at his home on November 7, 2014.

Joseph is survived by 3 sisters: Lena, Dorothy, and Angie and was preceded by 3 brothers: Charley Buck, Donald, and Jasper. Many knew him as Joe or Joey….Joe was also survived by his children: Daughter: Bonnie and son in-law Norman Gibbs of Md., Son: Joe and daughter in-law Brenda Petrillo of Md., Son: Albert and daughter in-law Carolyn Petrillo of FL, Daughter: Toni and son in-law Don Browning of Md., and Daughter Vickie Petrillo of Fl., 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren…..Joe was also a father to 5 step children: John, Lynn, James, Shawn, and Brian.

Joseph Petrillo was known as the man who owned Amoco stations, one in Hillside, Md where he grew up. And another here in Port Charlotte, FL known as JR Amoco which he opened up after bringing his family and extended family to Florida in 1980. Joe was known to be a very hard working and generous man. One of his passions besides work was to cut grass and he would cut all the surrounding yards of any home he lived at for stress release. In his later years he lived with his son Albert and daughter in-law Carolyn Petrillo here in FL. Joe as many knew him was always on the go and doing something productive. When they took his License away because of his age and failing health he used to sit in his truck every day and say to me (step daughter Lynn) at times: “Ya know it’s a damn shame we work so hard to get where we go for someone to take it all away. “

He moved to the best of his ability to the day he passed…. “HE NEVER STOOD STILL.” Will be forever missed and greatly loved by us and more!
