Rest well my able father in-law. You're a man of dignity, humility and respect. I miss you every passing day. I wish we could have the opportunity to sit together as a father and son in-law to have discussions meant only for us...
When i look at the 4 years that have gone by, it reminds me of how fast time runs and most importantly the values of making a difference in our community- for that is the legacy and memories we shall leave behind when our own time comes to exit the stage.
Continue to intercede for us and enjoy your heavenly stay until we meet again.
Your son in-law, COLADO
you were someone so wonderful and special that words can't convey. We loved the sunshine in your smile and kindness in your heart but heaven saw that you were tired, which meant we had to part. Daddy, those special memories of you will always bring a smile.
Thank you for all you did to me. Rest in Peace Daddy.
May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God Amen.
Words will never bring you back but it reminds us of the awesome human being you were.
In as much as we miss you every passing day, we still feel your spiritual presence. Your intercession is felt, and the family has been striving with the consolation and grace of the Almighty. The blessings and favors keep pouring and we pray for more.
Four months ago, God blessed us with a child who is named after you. I wish he had the opportunity to see the wonderful man he is named after.
We miss you every passing day and we pray for your constant intercession as we keep up to your legacy.
Continue to rest in peace Daddy!

Son in-law
farewell....Daddy Nkem Jinya
It's been 17 days that the shocking waves of your eternal transition reached us. I keep pondering if this has been a dream...
A humble man you were. A loyal husband and father you stood the test of time. A Christian family you built. A selfless servant you served the community and the nation of Cameroon.
Throughout the struggle to regain your health, you remain faithful to Christ, believing in God who surpasses all creatures and power. You looked up to Jesus Forsaken on the cross with courage and hope until the very last minute.
Thanks to your exceptional qualities of good parenting, you blessed me with the most beautiful, intelligent, humble, God fearing, understanding, loving and caring lady as a life partner.
Your demise has generated a big space that nobody can fill. You left us so soon, but you left us with a legacy. My 10 years of closeness to you groomed me with those aspects of yours- a man of substance.
Your little grand daughter, Princess Delyanne shall miss that wonderful grand dad. We pray God pardon any of your ills and grant you eternal peace until we meet again.
You'll remain fresh in our memories-----Adieu Daddy
Colado (Son-in-law)
You were indeed a Dad. You thought me love, happiness and most importantly the simplicity of life. As it goes, “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”. You will forever remain in our hearts. We will miss you.

FUNERAL VIGIL
SOLEMN HOUR OF PRAYER FOR Mr. JOSEPH ATABONG
JULY 9TH, 2016
DICKINSON, TEXAS
"I am the resurrection and the life.
Those who believe in me, even though
they die, will live, and everyone who
Lives and believes in me will never die."
John 11:25-26
Death is not the ultimate victor for the Christian. The resurrection of Jesus Christ means that death is swallowed up in victory 1 Corinthians 15:55. This is the root cause and source of our joyful hope. We pray in the risen Lord for repose for the souls of those who have gone before us. Together one day we shall be with the Lord in heaven where there will be no more death, and no more mourning or sadness.
Revelation 21:4
OPENING SONG
THERE’S A STRANGER AT THE DOOR
There’s a stranger at the door, Let Him in;
He has been there oft before, Let Him in;
Let Him in, er He is gone, Let Him in, the Holy One,
Jesus Christ the Father’s Son, Let Him in.
Open now to Him you heart, Let Him in;
If you wait He will depart, Let Him in;
Let Him in, He is your Friend,
He your soul will sure defend,
He will keep you to the end, Let Him in.
Hear you now His Living Voice? Let Him in;
Now, Oh now make Him your choice, Let Him in;
He is standing at your door,
Joy to you He will restore,
And His name you will adore, Let Him in
Now admit the Heavenly Guest, Let Him in;
He will make for you a feast, Let Him in;
He will speak your sins forgiv’n,
And when earth ties all are riv’n,
He will take you home to heav’n, Let Him in.
V. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
A. Amen.
R. Almighty Father, eternal God, hear our prayers for your son Joseph Atabong whom you have called from this life to yourself. Grant him light, happiness, and peace. Let him pass in safety through the gates of death, and live forever with all your saints in the light you promised to Abraham and to all his descendants in faith. Guard him from all harms and on that great day of resurrection and reward; raise him up with all your saints. Pardon his sins and give him eternal life in your kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
God of mercy and compassion
1. God of mercy and compassion
Look with pity upon me
Father, let me call thee Father
‘Tis thy child returns to thee.
Jesus, Lord I ask for mercy
Let me not implore in vain
All my sins I now detest them
Never will I sin again
2. By my sins I have deserved
Death and endless misery
Hell with all its pains and torments
And for all eternity
Jesus, Lord, etc
3. By my sins I have abandon’d
Right and claim to heaven above
Where the saints rejoice for ever
In a boundless sea of love.
Jesus, Lord, etc
4. See our Saviour, bleeding, dying
On the cross of Calvary
To that cross my sins have nail’d him
Yet he bleeds and dies for me
Jesus, Lord, etc

Holy Queen: Hail, holy queen, Mother of mercy; hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope; to thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus; O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Queen of the most holy rosary, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ
Let us pray
O God, whose only-begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech you, that meditating upon these mysteries in the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord Amen.

Let us entreat our heavenly Father who is compassionate and loving as we pray:
We are assembled here in faith and confidence to pray for Joseph Atabong. Strengthen our hope so that we may live in the expectation of your Son’s coming. We pray to the Lord. God our Father, have Mercy on us, Have Mercy on us.
We pray for Joseph Atabong’s family, that the Lord will fill the present emptiness in their hearts with the love and prayerful support of many friends. We pray to the Lord. God our Father, have Mercy on us, Have Mercy on us.
For all those people who ministered to Julius Tanyi during his illness, that they may be blessed in abundance with God’s love for them. We pray to the Lord.
God our Father, have Mercy on us, Have Mercy on us.
For each of us with whom Joseph Atabong so generously shared his many gifts, may we, too, grow in the ability to share our gifts and lighten the burdens of others. We pray to the Lord. God our Father, have Mercy on us, Have Mercy on us.
For all those who loved and were loved by Joseph Atabong, that we may find comfort in our belief in the Lord’s promise to us of eternal life. We pray to the Lord.

For a moment, let us be with our own memories of Joseph Atabong. (pause) We pray to the Lord. God our Father, have Mercy on us, Have Mercy on us.
For those who mourn
Lord Jesus Christ, you wept over the death of Lazarus and said Blessed are those who mourn. Visit, we beseech you, with your compassion the homes and hearts of those who mourn the loss of Joseph Atabong and may their hope in the resurrection sustain them in this hour of trial. We pray to the Lord.
God our Father, have Mercy on us, Have Mercy on us.

CLOSSING HYMN
PEACE, PERFECT PEACE
Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin?
The blood of Jesus whispers peace within.
Peace, perfect peace, by thronging duties pressed?
To do the will of Jesus, this is rest.
Peace, perfect peace, with sorrow surging round?
In Jesus's presence nought but calm is found.
Peace, perfect peace, with loved ones far away?
In Jesus's keeping we are safe, and they.
Peace, perfect peace, our future all unknown?
Jesus we know, and He is on the throne.
Peace, perfect peace, death shadowing us and ours?
Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers
It is enough: earth's struggles soon shall cease,
and Jesus call us to heaven's perfect peace.
I Surrender All
1. All to Jesus I surrender;
all to him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust him,
in his presence daily live.
Refrain:
I surrender all, I surrender all,
all to thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
2. All to Jesus I surrender;
humbly at his feet I bow,
worldly pleasures all forsaken;
take me, Jesus, take me now.
(Refrain)
3. All to Jesus I surrender;
make me, Savior, wholly thine;
fill me with thy love and power;
truly know that thou art mine.
(Refrain)
4. All to Jesus I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to thee;
fill me with thy love and power;
let thy blessing fall on me.
(Refrain)
5. All to Jesus I surrender;
now I feel the sacred flame.
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to his name!
(Refrain)
The Kids Song by Kaylene, Atabong, Delyanne and Friends
'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus
'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
just to take him at his word;
just to rest upon his promise,
just to know, "Thus saith the Lord."
Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I've proved him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!
2. O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
just to trust his cleansing blood;
and in simple faith to plunge me
neath the healing, cleansing flood!
(Refrain)
3. Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
just from sin and self to cease;
just from Jesus simply taking
life and rest, and joy and peace.
(Refrain)
4. I'm so glad I learned to trust thee,
precious Jesus, Savior, friend;
and I know that he’s with me,
wilt be with me to the end.

---> Day by day
Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find, to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He Whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best—
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
Every day, the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He wants to bear to cheer me,
He Whose Name is Counselor and Pow’r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As your days, your strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.
Help me then in every tribulation
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till I reach the promised land.
