Joseph Bert Slaughter Sr., 93, a lifetime resident of Granville County passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Granville House.
A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Clay Maston Slaughter and Betty Ann Williams Slaughter.  He was a longtime member of Stovall Baptist Church and a retired Chemist at Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Stovall Baptist Church by Rev. Eddie Mauldin.  Burial will be in Stovall Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-eight years, Estelle Chappell Slaughter of the home; a daughter, Nora Slaughter Olive (Raymond) of Hillsborough; three sons, Joseph Bert Slaughter, Jr. (Brenda) of Montana, Zack Leon Slaughter of Petersburg, Virginia, William Oscar Slaughter of Wilton; a sister, Allie Lee Slaughter Bowen of Henderson, a brother, Robert Williams Slaughter of Oxford and eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:45 AM prior to the 11:00 AM service in the sanctuary of Stovall Baptist Church.
