Stain Glass
Dad built these two massive stain glass windows for my bathroom in Lafayette, Louisiana. I was surpised that he even agreed to take on the task, but I was absolutely shocked when he opened the crates and revealed two of the most beautiful stain glass windows I had ever seen. And it was such a treat to install them together. A few years later, when I sold the house, I naturally packed them up and took them with me. At my current house I was always searching for the perfect place to install them, so I ended up building this sauna as almost a sacred chapel for them. That's really what it feels like when you're in there, looking through them, so peaceful and calming. Thank you, Dad! They will always be treasured.
Farewwell to Carroll
To the Family,
We were good friends with the Krueger's when we both lived on Dominican Drive in San Rafael. Dick was the coach of Gilmore Shell, a Little League team of which both Terry, Kevin and Randy played. Carroll was the assistant coach and we have a picture of the baseball team still hanging in our den.
Both coaches were physicians but managed their time to coach these young players. Kevin still keeps in touch with Terry, but I didn't know that Carfroll had moved to Port Ludlow....I was there a fews years ago visiting good frriends--wish I had known.
My husband, Dick, passed away on Aug. 2, 2007 at 73. Dick had a lot of respect for Carroll and his professionalism in orthopedics ( Dick was a radiologist, practicing in SF). They enjoyed being together and we had a lot of fun gatherings in the early 70's.
My sincere sympathy to all the family.....

Yellow Corvette
I am fairly certain that Dr. Krueger was the owner of a 1966 yellow Corvette, which he placed for sale on the street in Greenbrae, as my husband at the time, fell in love with.
Dr. Krueger had the sale price at $1800, and we were young and had to obtain a loan for half the price - hard to believe at the level of prices these days.
We enjoyed that beautiful car for many years.
I never met Dr. Krueger, but have now enjoyed knowing of his life, and do hope this is a correct tribute to your family member - a good man.
With condolences and good memories,
Bettye Becker
Dad knitted this gorgeous blanket using the dominant colors of a Persian rug in our family room, the blanket's final destination. It is as warm and cozy as it is beautiful, and we fight over it all winter.
A few years ago Dad (or was it Teri?) asked me and my sisters to pose with our respective blankets, like so. The photos were then arranged inside a single frame (including a photo of Teri with her blanket) and given to each of us for Christmas. A gift made out of gifts. Perfect.
I took up the cello at nine and used Dad's den for practicing. Whenever I was slightly flat or sharp, Dad would suddenly appear in the doorway and silently stare at me. I would quickly creep my finger up or down the neck until I was in tune, and he would disappear again.
After a few years my interest waned, and my music teacher told me that it was obvious that I wasn't practicing enough.
"What's strange," she said, "is that your intonation is perfect."

Dad was always a world-class teaser of children, and they (we) could never get enough of it.
When I was little, I remember walking down the street with my little girlfriends and running into my Dad. "Hi, boys," he said. We all thought it was hysterical.

My Dad designed and created this 3-paneled window(s) for our new kitchen. It's 40" tall by 44" wide.
It depicts our favorite tree -- a beautiful magnolia that is visible through the window to the left. When the real tree turns grey and stark in the long New York winters, my Dad's keeps giving us these lovely, hopeful blooms.
The shippers managed to break it in twelve places, but Dad had me ship it right back and went to work on the repairs, making the breaks look as "intentional" as possible. To us, they make it all the more beautiful. So much care.

Train Trip Seattle - Los Angeles
Dad and Catharine rode the Coast Starlight from Seattle to Los Angeles in December 2015. This pic is in our compartment. I slept on the top bunk and Dad slept really well on the bigger bottom bunk. I didn't think he would be able to do this trip with his balance issues, but he was a trooper!
This was taken in WA or OR. I think our favorite part was going through Vandenberg AFB on the coast of CA. That's the only way you can see that part of the Pacific coast and the base goes on forever, right next to the ocean.
