Joseph Francis McCarren, age 78, passed away at Hospice of Dayton on August 12, 2021. Born on February 27, 1943 to Margaret (Doyle) and Patrick McCarren, Joe spent his early childhood in Clones, County Monaghan Ireland before moving to Washington Heights in New York City. Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a medic before starting his career with The NY Roofing Company and retiring from the NYC Board of Education. Joe spent the last three years living near his daughter in Beavercreek, Ohio. In addition to his daughter Alison (John) Berger, Joe is survived by his son Joseph (Laurie) and grandchildren Jack and Cameron. He was preceded in death by his wife Sally, his parents, and brothers Thomas and Hugh. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 4th at Sacred Heart Church, Dobbs Ferry, NY.
