This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Joseph Mitchell, 46 years old, born on September 7, 1974, and passed away on November 17, 2020. We will remember him forever.
My dad was a humble man from humbled beginnings. Everything he had was earned by years and years of hard work and dedication. Other than a brief moment when I was a small child when my father worked on a farm, he drove as an over the road truck driver. The highways seen him more than we did, nonetheless he was dedicated to give his family the life he didn't have. Every weekend he was home he enjoyed time with us all. We had bonfires or road four-wheelers, shot guns, fished, or hunted. He was a simple man with simple pleasures. He was also a devoted grandpa to his two grandbabies who loved him very much. They called him papa joe. Although we cannot see him we should always remember who he was, the memories we shared, and the good times we've had. There was never a dull moment with him around and he always had a smile and laugh that was infections to everyone he came in contact with
One of the memories I have with my dad was when I was a security officer at arkansas steel in newport. I remember fondly that my phone would ring every time dad was driving down the road past my job. He'd call me and say," daddy's about to pass you look out the window." I would stare at the road until I seen his truck pass. He'd always blow his horn and we'd both laugh. I looked forward to those days as a security guard. It gave me a small glimmer of hope. That bond was special to he and I and I wouldn't trade those memories for anything in the world.
