This memorial was created for our daddy Olusola Adeyemi, 72 years old, who stepped into glory on February 23, 2021. We remember him now and always.
FROM THE BEGINNING…..
Daddy Olusola Adeyemi was born in Ile Oniwere, Iludun-Oro, Kwara State on 29th November, 1948. His Father, Pa David Adeyemi Fasanu and Mother, Madam Rebecca Omorike Fasanu (nee Adekeye) , both of Iludun-Oro lived their lives and times as fervent believers in the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and handed this legacy to their son Olusola before passing on to glory in 1998 and 2016 respectively.
Daddy started his life career with primary education at St James’ Anglican Primary School (now LGEA School) Iludun-Oro in January 1955. He proceeded to secondary education at Esie/Iludun Anglican Grammar School in January, 1962 and to higher secondary at Government College Bida, then under the auspices of The Government of Northern Nigeria in January 1967. Daddy’s university education started with the University of Ibadan, Nigeria’s premier university (1969-72), later Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts,USA (1976-77), University of Lagos, Akoka (1981-86) and University of Abuja (2009-2017). He graduated with Ph.D (Economics) in April 2017.
His working life started in January 1969 as a Higher School Teacher at the Government Secondary School, Dekina, then popularly referred to as Kwara overseas and now in Kogi state prior to the university education. On completing the first university degree at Ibadan, he commenced a new cycle of working life as Panning Officer Grade Two at the then Federal Ministry of Economic Development (now Ministry of Planning and Budget) in June 1972. He served in that Ministry for about twenty-five out of the thirty-five years of civil service career. His main preoccupation was preparation of the medium-term plans and the annual budget. As a legacy of his career in that ministry, he published a book titled: MOVING NIGERIA FORWARD : THE DEVELOPMENT PLANNING APPROACH.
His other civil service career engagements included Federal Ministry of Aviation, Ministry of Federal Capital Territory, National Economic Intelligence Committee (NEIC) and the Presidency. He rose through the ranks and retired as Federal Permanent Secretary in June 2007. Before retirement, he was awarded National Honours, Officer of the Order of the Niger, OON by President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR.
He was able to scale through the challenges of work-a-day life all through his career with the help of the Almighty God and the support at the home front by his wife, Esther Oluyinka Adeyemi, also a civil servant who rose through the ranks and retired from the system as Director of Women Affairs in January 2013.
The marriage to Esther Oluyinka Adeyemi of Ile Ajalegbe, Iludun-Oro on December 10, 1977 produced three siblings , all of them flourishing and strong in the Lord: Oluwafemi, Titilayo Adewuyi (nee Adeyemi), and Opeoluwa. Besides the wife, Daddy’s family life was enriched by the support of his immediate parents (of blessed memory), his Father-in-Law, Pa Titus Adeyemi Awotoye (of blessed memory) and Mother-in Law, his first primary school teacher, Prophetess Mrs Victoria Olufunmilayo Awotoye.To God be the glory.
Daddy’s life was enriched with his close association with the House of God starting with New Estate Baptist Church, Surulere, Lagos, New Estate Baptist Church, Apo, Abuja and New Realm Baptist Church, Onireke, Ojo Lagos.. He cultivated a special love for the Sunday School Ministry and Bible reading.
He also enjoyed social life with the friends with whom he grew up right from his youth in Iludun-Oro (now Iludun-Oro Auxilliary Association) and very close friends in the House of God who over the years became family friends and prayer partners. He spent his life serving in the Lord’s vineyard, in his place of birth, Iludun-Oro and in the society at large.
